Elizabeth has decided that she needs to shop for a Halloween costume before it is TOO LATE and all of the best costumes are gone. She already knows that she is supposed to dress up as a pirate with Phoebe so she knows what she wants to find, but it is a matter of finding the perfect costume.
She has dragged Josef along for fun, because he is her boyfriend and because she likes to be with him as often as she can especially lately. Nothing has become more apparent to her lately than the fact that they are both headed toward the darkness of insanity. It is a place where the other cannot follow. It's not surprising at all that she wants to spend any free time that she can with him. Her dad left. She will probably never see him again, but she still has a family here. She still has Josef, and she is okay. Elizabeth is determined to grab hold of life and live it while she still has the chance.
She is older, not so much in years but in every way that counts, and it is obvious in so many of her words and her actions and her expressions. There's a maturity to her smiles even. It's impossible to live in this city and not be changed by it. The change is obvious in the way that she looks even. She looks older than seventeen.
Elizabeth turns to look at him. Her hand is wrapped around his as she pulls him into the over sized Halloween costume. They are going during the early afternoon so there are no customers. Certainly not any children who are all still in school at this time. See? She does think ahead sometimes.
She pauses in front of one of the aisles filled with costumes, takes both of his hands in hers, and grins up at him, leaning up on her toes.
"If you help me find the perfect costume for Halloween, the rest of my day is completely and totally yours."
