I feel compelled to share my obsession with a place, or rather a cluster of places, that is absofuckinlutely sacred to me--The Menil enclave in Houston’s museum district.

The jewel is the Menil Museum itself.  Granted, I have a museum fetish, and have spent a good slice of my life in museums around

Menil Museum is my favorite, too!

I can't wait until I'm done with finals and juries so that I can take advantage of a "free museum thursday" at the MFA and a day at the menil. eek!

Ever since they more than doubled MFAH I don't try to hit more than one museum in a day. The museum may be free on Thursdays but I can never get free then myself. Interesting history behind "Free Thursdays," as reparation for decades of racism and class oppression.

Likewise, I love devoting a whole afternoon for the Menil group, and if the weather is decent walk from site to site. Ever notice how all the surrounding residences are monochromatically ambiant?

Well, regardless of the "free thursday" history, I am not above taking advantage of it. I rather go on a free thursday and have gas money for the week. ;)
