Not just a name.
We all know how Yuuta was referred to as Otouto-kun when he'd initially attended Seigaku, which then prompted him to move far far away (to St. Rudolph); so that he wouldn't be thought of as his older brother's shadow anymore. But here's my take on his character.Having come from such an adoring family (with older siblings who doted on him), one would have thought that Yuuta would be every bit as congenial, pleasant and the like. However, you couldn't have been more wrong. Yuuta is, in fact, quite brash in personality, often letting his actions speak for him. And when not snapping at whomever he is speaking to, he is normally found brooding to himself in a lone corner. This is at least the perception one would get from casual ( ... )

Personality Field: Hiyoshi, of course, does not like to lose. He sees each opponent as something that must be overcome before he can progress. Though he never shows it and refuses to admit it to himself, he has grudging respect for people such as Atobe. Fighting one’s way to the very top is never easy, but Hiyoshi is determined to get there through hard work and discipline. He is somewhat overly self-conscious, with a secret shy side, and has a well-concealed adoration of small fluffy things.

Just like a real person, every anime character has a hidden "darker" side to them, so to say. Constantly sleeping even during important events, Jiroh can be a blond little hurricane running around the room in top speed. Like the high society they're being groomed ot survive in, the society of Hyotei is just as cutthroat and deadly, and for Jiroh to survive safely in a position highly sought after, there's more to this sleepy lamb than meets the eye.

Personality Field: Kirihara is playful and mischievous, a brat, and short-tempered at times. Though having a myriad of emotions, ambition and a yearning to prove himself the best at whatever he does are constants in his life. Becoming the best in tennis has been an aspiration of his for a rather long time. Recognizing his own clumsiness and slightly clueless nature as he continues to fumble through the awkward teenage years, Kirihara knows he can overcome any obstacle and face any opponent without fear. A stubborn drive and passion pushes him forward through the apprenticeship, unable to do anything but strain to the best of his abilities.

Personality Field: Taka-san, when he hasn’t got a racket, is normally very good-natured and polite. He’d be nice to pretty much everybody, whether or not he knows them, although he won’t necessarily talk too openly with people he doesn’t know particularly well. He’s kind of plain, and doesn’t tend to initiate action so much as tag along with people who happen to be doing something. He avoids conflict most of the time and has a tendency to worry, but not to the point of causing problems for anyone. When he gets his hands on a racket, however, the caps-lock comes on. He suddenly becomes loud and abrasive, and will sometimes taunt and make fun of people such that he otherwise probably wouldn’t even think about. He gets very competitive, recklessly daring, somewhat overwhelming, and very difficult to keep hold of. One has to keep a close eye on him while he has a racket, or he might end up doing something ( ... )
