Oh, people, it is that time again. You know, the time each year when I drag out the giant reading lists of ginormous doom and I post them and we all flail for a bit and then we read a million books. That time
( Read more... )
Shveta made me promise to go. She said I had to because Medusa is on the logo and everything. :D So I want to do something. I know you have ideas. Let me know when the timing is appropriate--or now if it is.
I did giggle a bit at the YA list. I think one of those sections is definitely the fantasy section... which I identified by the fact that I've read almost everything in that section, whereas I've only read a few things of the other sections.
I think the most comforting part of this list is that I have already read most of it. I like it when that happens because it makes picking things out easier!
Well you (and Justine Larbalestier) spoke so highly of it!
Girl Parts is definitely in my to-read pile -- and we definitely include current, popular and controversial books deliberately. Otherwise, I'd fight like hell to keep Twilight off. :))
Um. If I do nothing BUT read between now and next year? Actually I'm accidentally doing pretty well on that YA list either things I've read already or things already on my to read list so I'll just have to focus on Sirens in the hope that I finally make it next year *crosses fingers*
Oh, I hope you do make it next year! We'd love to see you!
Strangely, at least to me, the list starts to look much easier after a year or two. Perhaps it looks less daunting, since I'm more familiar with a lot of the works and authors? I don't know, but it doesn't seem as terrifying this year!
I think recognising more authors helps, it makes it feel more familiar, and I suppose you have more of a feeling for how many books you can read? I've only started counting the last couple of years and it's amazed me.
Whether I can come or not depends a little on whether I still have a job but I'm hopeful!

David says we'll find a way to swing it. I'm coming to Sirens. But when is the YA conference?

YA is still in development. Believe me, if there were dates, everyone on my flist would know. :))

*grin* You will find that many of us are far better read in the SF/F section than the other sections.

(Also, Girl Parts, which was very INTERESTING if not necessarily a great work of literature.)
