my mix...

A song that wakes you up in the morning.
I can't not get up out of bed to dance around to Fall Out Boy- Dance Dance. It's pretty much required at this point. Good thing that I listen to the (normally horrid) radio station that plays this every morning in the hour that I give myself to get out of bed. Not quite sure what will happen when it leaves high rotation.

A song you loved in high school.
The only song from high school that I really remember loving is 3 Doors Down- Kryptonite, but it's for a really, really silly reason that I will not go into here. There are a lot of fond memories of it, though.

A song that mentions a dead celebrity.
Another one that makes me want to get up and dance, Franz Ferdinand- Walk Away

A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother.
This most definitely would be Hawksley Workman- Striptease. Even if the lyrics weren't so suggestive, the music is more than enough to make gramma blush.

A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years.
I don't know if any song by The Weakerthans has made it onto MTV at some point, but I doubt that if a song did make it, it would be from their first album, Fallow. Because I love them and this song, and because MTV scks ass, I present The Weakerthans- Diagnosis.

A song with a title that ends in y.
Snow Patrol- You Are My Joy, because this is a brilliant song and I wanted to get it in here somewhere.

A song that makes you crave something.
This song immediately came to mind; at first I wasn't sure what it was amking me crave, but after listening to it again and again, I just ended up craving listening to it: Pete Samples- Awkward Goodbye

A cover song that you think is better than the original.
I love Jeff Buckley, like nobody's business, and I would say that most of his covers are better than their originals. However, the one that stands out in my mind as one of the most overlooked is Dancing in the Moonlight, by Thin Lizzy.

The original of #8.
Thin Lizzy- Dancing in the Moonlight

A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP.
I don't actually have an OTP. If I were pressed to pick one, I'd probably go with Howard/Munch from Homicide:Life on the Streets. And they are so totally Greg MacPherson- Good Times. It would have never worked out for them, would it?

You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song.
Hell, I've been caught singing this song when I didn't think anyone else was around: My Chemical Romance- You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison

A song that will always make you think of a movie.
U loved it to death on its own merits, but after seeing The Girl In The Cafe, when I listen to Sigur Ros- Starálfur, I can only see Gina and Lawrence in the car. It's just heartbreaking.

A song that should totally have fic written about it.
I've been wanting this for so long that I'll probably do it myself: The Mohawk Lodge- Traitors and Knives

A song you wish they'd play in elevators.
There needs to be more trip-hop played in elevators (of course, this may lead to an increase of elevators being "out of service" and needing to be sanitized more often...) Morcheeba- Never An Easy Way

You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands.
It was going to be the song listed for many of the above, but considering I've listened to it almost every day for several months now (and beforehand was singing it in my head, half-remembered from my first concert of theirs) this song has to be Novillero- Ceremony
