[fic] Mid-life Crisis part 3 of ?
A return to the Batman: TAS / Batman Beyond / YGO / YGO GX fusion fic of doom. Wo0t! XDDDDD. Same spoiler warnings as in the first two parts as well as some speculation on the world war that's hinted at in the later episodes of Batman Beyond.
Bruce/OFC. PG-13ish rating. Seto finally makes an appearance! XD
Of course, the world doesn’t work out the way he wishes. He’s known since childhood, every since his parents took him to see that last movie.
And when he finally makes it back to Japan, he’s over a year late, and there’s a solemn little thing with his eyes and Emiya’s hair.
Seto takes to him slowly, and Bruce is pleased that his son is - at such a young age - wary of strangers.
But by the time they’ve left the airport, he’s snug in Bruce’s arms. And Bruce is surprised to realize that he’s never held another child like this. Not even Tim, his - legally anyway - only son.

Emiya is a bit more grown-up now, a bit more hardened by the war. But she still giggles and cooks horrible food and tells him her dreams and hopes, and he is (if not happy) then at least content.
She teaches a few classes now, waiting as she is for a more permanent position, and so he watches Seto while she’s gone.
The boy is bright, even at this young age, and Bruce despairs to think about what sort of future he’ll have, growing up in such a hopeless world.

Strangely enough, it’s Dick who makes the objections when he tells both Dick and Tim (by email of course, he hasn’t spoken to Tim in years, and he’s still not sure if he can) that he intends to formally acknowledge Seto as his son.
He writes that he wants them to have advance warning and that he’s revising his will so that everything will be divided in thirds rather than in half.
Tim doesn’t respond, but then Bruce doesn’t expect him to.
Dick, however, writes back that Bruce is crazy if he thinks Dick is going to let him raise another child without some sort of fight.
