Ahhh. If only that banner was from the Atlanta community.

Is it rather hard to start up a night? Because I'm itching for some good deathrock dancing.

if i might be so bold as to answer this one...i'm prayers_forrain's other half and one of the djs. i would think that in a city the size of atlanta it would be fairly easy to get enough attendance to keep a night like this going. unfortunately, in this "city" our scene is incredibly small and is made up primarily of people wearing bad pvc, giant d-ringed pants, awful make-up, and who think marilyn manson and mindless self-indulgence are goth. i don't think any of them even know what deathrock is. grrr!

*ahem* sorry for the rant. it wasn't that hard at all to start up the night. just bug the manager of a bar that you and your friends tend to frequent (preferably with their own sound gear), get a couple of djs with half decent cd collections who have some taste, and your off! that's pretty much all we did. however, be prepared to have to do all the postering yourself (with a LOT of walking) and you'll probably have to pay for it out of your own pocket...unless the bar manager is REALLY nice!

I'm absolutely amazed it worked out so well for you guys..

Appararently, about a year or so ago a good soul tried to do what you guys did in Atlanta, but it didn't work out. Bigger scene and city than you guys probably have...but unfortuntaly, all that seems to mean is that we have more roach stomping idiots.

As someone who is under 21 and has no job whatsoever, AND who also lives aboutw two hours away from Atlanta (I moved to the backwoods from south Florida a few months ago), it is REALLY hard for me to do all that. But I do have youthful pep! So who knows? Things just might get better in the future...after all the hiking I have to do in order to navigate throughout my own "yard", trekking through a city posting and handing out flyers would be no sweat.

Oh, and I love the Eldritch icon.

Actually, it didn't really work out all the well. No one in this city's so-called "scene" cares enough to show up. We still did ok at the door, but we think people came because they thought it was our new wave night. So, this is the last Last Rites for a while, maybe for good. It's a shame, but we should have guessed that the "scene" here wouldn't want an actual goth night because that would imply that they actually knew what goth was.
