[Voice]Ah, um... hello, everyone! This is Shirley. Er, well... today, I was baking some jam tarts for the house and, well... I got my measurements wrong. To save my dough, I decided to just enlarge the batch and I ended up making much more than what I had originally planned ( Read more... )

[Hey. Hey Shirl.

Do you feel that?

It's the ocean.

It's in your backyard.]

[A familiar scent wafts through the open window of Shirley's window. One that she thought she would never encounter in Luceti...

because, dude. It's the ocean.

Yeah, she's dropping her work to check this out. She barely remembers to grab a shawl before heading out outside because she can smell ocean breeze and it's been over half a year since she's seen the ocean and she hasn't had a proper swim since it started getting cold out.]

[Indeed, the fucking ocean is in Shirl's backyard. And you know what? Not only is there no snow near the ocean, it's even mildly warm around it! It's like a beach arrived with it!]

[Shirley can't help but stare at the space that once was her backyard. This is the ocean. The ocean. The ocean. She can't just walk to its shore -- she runs, barely even noticing the change in temperature.]

The ocean ... [... clearly, there is only one option here. Shirley clasps her hands together and bows her head, opening her mind in the hopes of hearing the voice of the sea.]

[Indeed, the voice of the sea speaks to her, though it may not be the voice she had been expecting.]

Greetings, Merines.

[It is not! For one, there's no surfer accent. But the part of her that is the Merines can recognize the voice within her mind as that of Nerifes, the will of the sea.]

<< It... it is an honor to hear your voice... >>

[... yeah, it's probably a good thing that Shirley lives in the middle of nowhere. Most people would probably find the glowing hair and the silence to be a little weird.]
