End of February, End of Challenge

Feb 28, 2009 19:13

Here's the scoop. I started February with a promise to myself that I'd make a post every day for the month. Now I'm done and what's to do?

Background
The once-vibrant livejournal community that brought me up and gave me friends and commentary and kept old friends closer than they'd be otherwise is tuckering out. Probably there are all sorts of ( Read more... )

Well I was sure glad to see you posting again. I hope you keep at it, but if you stop again, do come back, even if you have to apologize each time. etc.

Thank you, and I suppose I find myself apologizing even when posting every damn day, so why stop now?

I definitely see what you are saying. People get older, they get more mature, they have less time to post as much and be as invested in the community as they once were. In college you have all the time in the world, you are bored and full competitive urges so it comes naturally ( ... )

Yeah, you've got a really good attitude about it, I think. I'm trying to cultivate a similar one. I know I kinda hit the pessimist button hard in this post, but I'm hoping to come back around and point out that because my little clique of this community isn't as active as they were, I'm not being exposed to new stuff as much, which gets me thinking it's all dying -- but it's not!

And it's fun and good to put ideas into the world. I think it also winds up being a really great place for half-formed or unfinished jots and inspirations, because there's less pressure than if it were on a "real" site.

I was overjoyed to see you posting again.

But you could post anywhere and syndicate the rss feed here. (for those of us staying with livejournal as it slowly goes down.)

Oh why thank you.

And I'm not sure the LJ ship is completely in tatters yet. I guess I'm just trying to figure out my own personal relationship with my own personal livejournal. Is it a place for jots? For my actual journal about my actual life? For finished work?

These are the questions I've been grappling through between posts.
