 I just had the most uplifting thought process about the Cartesian plane.

And a little bit about vicegrip pliers, and Karl Marx came into the end of it.

How do you explain to someone whose mother went to Harvard and whose father went to Yale that, at home, your cousins live nextdoor and ride around on motorized shopping carts, that your dad's an unemployed construction worker, that your mom has a Boston accent, and that your brother spent a significant amount of time during high school fixing up

 I went to my English professor's house for study break.

We talked about philosophy and sex toys.

I love Brown.

Everyone here has a reason.

Everyone has done something absolutely amazing, everyone has pushed themself, everyone has made it.

Idle chatter can be something life-affirming.

People are lovely.

I feel at home here. I feel happy. I was hoping for okay and I am wonderful.

Hopeful.

I'm so happy....!

 A week ago was my first day here, and I was absolutely terrified, and had no idea what I was doing, and was pretty sure I would never meet anyone or succussfully complete a single class or figure out how to get from my dorm to main green.

And now I'm so happy, and I'm putting off a little bit of homework because I feel bad that I didn't even notice ( Read more... )

 My life fits too comfortably in the back of a pickup truck.

But there aren't many pickup trucks here.

Which is wonderful.

Being here is a lot less terrifying than getting ready to come was.

Still a little scary though.
