I would post this after seeing "Heroes," but since Livejournal is undergoing maintenance later tonight, I thought I might as well put one up now.

i heard an excellent reason about why the germans remain, well, 'evil'... wish i could remember where it was...

it has to do with retribution. the japanese paid their pound of flesh (as it were) with the people of toyoko and the deaths with the bomb. italy killed their leader, thus paying their debt in blood.... the germans have done nothing.

so, they still are held as evil.

makes sense.

OK, that's rather interesting logic. Yeah, thanks.

Italians are still kinda seen as evil it seems to me, but it's like the "cool" evil. We're still very attracted to the depiction of mobsters (though I'm still not sure why).

Wonder if people in the middle east will suffer a similar when/if things ever calm down over there, or if the Cubans will when/if they get out of Communism.

i think it's the mystery of the mob.. the allure of bad boys... i remember asking my grandmother amato, "who are the mafia?" and she said, "buncha guys who play cards and eat sandwiches on saturday nights"

first time i saw the sopranos, it was a re-run on a saturday... and they were playing cards and eating... i figured, "hey, she was right!"

the middle east will never be seen as not evil, it's the whole christian vs thing...

cuba? totally. everyone wants to go back to havana....again, the lure of fun, fun, fun... and the knowledge people suffered.

mo only.

I saw "The Godfather" once, and I just couldn't figure why so many people say that it's the greatest movie of all time. I tried watching the sequel, but then I saw a scene that I found rather disturbing (once I put together in my head what was happening).
