I'd JUMP at a siren.

But, then again, if I heard a siren in VT... I'd be shocked.

that seems rather as though it would defeat the purpose of a "warning". it would be more "hey, we decided to start an avalanche. run!" instead of "there might possibly be something to worry about, so go away from windows just to be safe."

I heard the Ira Glass bit from the pledge drive, this insane This American Life-style guilt trip about how, if you didn't donate, NPR would still exist- but you would be a bad person.

see, the problem with my job, this past week, is that i don't get paid enough to let myself give to npr, and that is what i listen to every day from about 6:40 am to 4:00 pm. with a half hour break for lunch in a room where there aren't paint fumes. oh guilt.

Eek, that's way too much NPR. I've been getting about an hour of NPR a day lately, and after that I have to switch to a music station and cleanse my head. Especially during pledge drive week, it's unbearable.
