Is my life REALLY that boring?!

Jun 24, 2005 03:56

Am I too reserved? Too boring? I'm sick of hearing about he adventures that my friends from high school have gone on... or even my friends in college who have studied abroad and done spectacular things. Okay, this is my life... I work 40hrs a week at a Res. Hall front desk (the night shift). So of course, that means I sit on my butt for 8hrs a ( Read more... )

Is THIS what the Lord wants? predestinated June 28 2005, 07:41:46 UTC
I really hope I am doing what the Lord wants. I am actually doing a lot at church this summer with worship planning. I am also getting ready for next school year when I will be president of the Protestant Student Association and an intern for Campus Ministry. I've also joined a committee at church and the Peacemaking Commmittee at Presbytery, so my life is full of "Church things", I just hope it really IS what the Lord is calling me to do right now.
Thanks.

you should pray for God to confirm it.

also remember, when you put HIM first in all things, He will make his desires, your desires... so doing what you want, will be what he wants. Because you will know Him through his spirit. Let the spirit live through you... not the other way around.

First off, I'd have to agree with the previous comment.

Second, you sit for 40 hrs a week...I stand for 60. ;p

Third, don't let the internship keep you from doing some things you'd like to. While it is important, remember it is a job. A job is not your life, merely one aspect.

Fourth (and hopefully last), the 'boring' aspects of your life have just as much significance as the 'exciting'. They offer a time of recouping between hectic periods - but, even better, the slower pace allows you to focus on those things which you deem most important. Stop and smell the flowers should take on a whole new meaning - and not just metaphorically, either.

Okay, I'm done. Now if only I could learn to take my own advice...lol

Thanks Zach, I think I have a hard time believing that the "boring" parts of my life are ACTUALLY significant. But as for my internship... it really is a little more important that just some job... it's really a calling and I am going to treat it that way. I think I was actually called to be an intern next year... in fact, I was ACTUALLY called by Rachel to apply for the internship, hehehe.

Not that I want to get DRUNK every night or anything, but it would be nice to stay home and drink with friends and just hangout. Both of my current roomies don't drink... and it kinda sucks, not gonna lie!
We will have a great time next year as roomies, if you come back to Omaha, :-(
You really should come back to Creighton you know... we NEED you here.

Yeah, what they all said! And you are not too boring and sure as heck not too reserved (though this is coming from a shy person's pt. of view so what do I know?) but anyway... if solidarity helps at all...my summer has been even more boring than yours. I know hard to imagine, but its possible. I'm trying to change that by finding a job, but no luck yet. Except for a an opening for a job answering telephones in Spanish which I am almost to freaked out about to take. But yeah other than a surprize road trip that I got to take this weekend (which you can read about in my journal shortly), its not like there's mad crazy coolness in my life either. So there :)

Ouch! Your summer does seem more boring than mine... I hope you are able to find a job... spending cash is always nice. One of my roomies currently has no job, but it doesn't seem to bother him. He will be studying with you in the DR next semester... his name is Jake.
Answering phones in Spanish sounds like a blast! hehe, not really, but maybe. Hey, you should come to Omaha for a weekend or something... we could rally the troups and have some fun... of course, I may be coming to Denver for a weekend in a couple weeks. I will let you know if I do. Hey, you should email me your phone number... I only have you school one.
peace out.
