Campus Ministry Internship!

Jun 28, 2005 06:22

Okay, I just got the email about what my regular duties will be next year for my internship with Campus Ministry. For the most part it is pretty cool, but I question some of the duties. At least 2-3 times a semester I have to participate in "Rosary Club", "Holy Hour" (which includes Eucharistic Adoration), and "Sunday Vespers" and then reflect on ( Read more... )

not to pe rude, but you are doing an internship in the most religous section of a CATHOLIC university. You have some good points, however the primary mode of worship at creighton is catholic services and thus you cannot expect presbyterian worship to be given the same standard. And you so stole my sign off!

Well, YES Creighton is a Catholic University, but when I was offered the intership and when I accepted it, there was an understanding that I AM Presbyterian and that I wouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable because I was interning at a Catholic University. And as far as Campus Ministry is concerned, they provide spiritual guidance for ALL Creighton students, regardless of religion... that means Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical Christian, and Jewish. So, I think that if I feel TOO uncomfortable when I participate in these events that I won't have to attend them again, but I really doubt that will happen... it takes a lot to really make me uncomfortable ( ... )

1. Who did you take CST from? If you claim it is rigid your teacher was obviously excluding quite a bit of the teachings.
2. You cant expect the school to cater to your spiritual needs, you have an easier time with that then do anyway and Im catholic.
3. Stop looking at information as a way to prove your ideologies; be it that catholicism is seriously flawed, or your stance on the abortion issue. No individual can have the whole truth or know all "the arguments from the other side." As Newton put it " the mark of true intellegence is the ablity to hold to oppossing ideas in your mind at the same time and remain sane" You will never be compleatly right, nor will I.

You guys are going to have such a fun house. you both have the attitude "Ask not what the world can do for me, ask what I can do for the world..."

See the way I see it is that you both have it easier than me being at Creighton, because I am a Catholic MAN! nobody understands me!

Thats why I regenerated the KofC, thats what clubs are for.

I think Dr. Weber needs to investigate the varied uses of plaid and indeed go to the Scottish Festival next year and get down with some Presbyterians. Actually, if you could help all of campus ministry become slightly more ecumenical that would be awesome!! Just because they aren't so much now doesn't mean they couldn't be...

And I too really like that quote from Newton

And I hope that ZAC is kidding about being misunderstood as a Catholic male
