I knew this was coming :)) Welcome to the Changed-City-Names club! Members include - Mumbai, Kolkotta and Chennai :)) By the way, changing name creates nuisance for sure. The year Madras was changed to Chennai, Madras medical college was changed to Chennai Medical College. The docs from here that went abroad for MDs and FRCPs were sent back because these colleges knew of only a Madras Medical College and not a Chennai Medical College. So till this date, the only thing Madras in Chennai is Madras Medical College!

Yeah and the next in the list is hyderabad being named to telugudesam or telangana. Maybe Bihar should be changed to laloo pradesh. You know what, we should even change the district names, cities, towns. Change the Postal codes and rename every street to a historical person in Indian History

Well Priyatam...i agree on most of the counts here...
But there are few things which you've come really hard on. Karnatake does host several cultural events in the state which you might not be aware of. And the tourism industry is not doing bad either, but yeah, it surely does need improvement.

Changing the city's name at a time when it has almost become a brand is what i am opposed to. If at all now was the time when the city was very well developed and nothing more could better it or effect the city's image then who would mind if they change the name just for showing their Kannada sentiments say?

But if we enforce "I am a Kannadiga, you are not." "I am a true telugu son, you dont belong here" "Oh, Im the North Indian, you a south Indian ...?"... we are forgetting that we are Indians at the end of the day.
