My Old Tata

May 10, 2006 12:03

The patchy road still leads me to my work place...the Durgam Cheruvu lake is still filled with water hyacinth (don't really know when the concerned people would take some action and clean it up!)....the paan shop wala as usual is catering to his customers...the sun is ablaze right over my head all set to roast me up....the lonely tree by the lake is still standing still....
aah! its just another weekday for me...days come by and days go by...but these things havent really changed much for the past 1 1/2 years! and so i sped past observing all these as a part of my daily routine...
Hey! But wait!Somethig is amiss! Whatever happened to Old Tata??!! (that is what i've named the old man who sits under the lonely tree with just his water bottle)  Gasp!
Is he alive? Has he shifted to some place else? Did the cops do something to him? Hell No!
I suddenly felt a lump in my throat as these crazy thoughts started running through my head. So, I slow down my kine and turn back and take a look again carefully...Again, No! Old Tata is not to be seen there...Sigh! But then all of a sudden i get a glimpse, somewhere by the side of the road this familiar, thin, fragile figure, with bent knees, moving slowly with his filled water bottle towards his tree... Phew! with a sigh of relief i restart my kine and head towards my office.

Its not for anyone and everyone that you feel compassionate about in your everyday life...
I travel the same roads everyday to work and almost at the same time in the mornings and i pass by almost the same vehicles and i see the same familiar faces everyday...strange it may sound but i HAVE to see or come across these things everyday for me to call it a normal day, else the day just doesnt seem right to ...and one such face is this Old Tata's...i really havent done much to help him but feel sorry for his plight and go past him...
and today, when i didnt see him under the tree i was almost in tears and realised how much he is a part of my daily life!
so, i've decided to help him with some basic stuff . don't exactly know what more i could do to help this man...

I really hope you live long and healthy Old Tata!
