'We'? So are you perhaps a king in disguise?

I remember the island--it sank, you know, so I suppose it's underwater now.

No, but I do keep company with kings. And queens, bishops, and knights, too.

Huh. But it's still intact?

I see.

I've no idea if it's entirely intact. There were quite a few horrors that went on before its sinking. I would think it would mostly be intact, but I should wonder how you mean to get to it.

Why, are you?

I don't. But I heard they blew it up, which does not usually imply continuance of structural integrity.

You're welcome, and you're entirely correct, although I did appreciate the chess. Hope I wasn't too terrible- maybe we can do it again sometime.

I'm extremely familiar with the prison island, by the way. I was in it very shortly before it exploded. I could show you the lake, it's on the south end of the City.

I don't know about standard denotation, but I'd just run a full line through the month's worth of tally marks.

You'll develop more finesse in your strategy when you stop relying so heavily on your queen.

Do you know why they blew it up?

I'll keep that in mind. I'm not surprised I ended up leaning too heavily on one piece- I should've caught that before.

They seemed to want to kill everyone inside. And they were tired of incarcerating the 'guilty', but I believe that was secondary.

It's a natural habit among learners. She's the most versatile.

Ah. So just general garden-variety mass murder, then. How marvellous.

The pleasure was mine. Let's hope for better circumstances next time.

Better circumstances for who?

For both of us. I like challenges at their best.

Despite the fact that ability to hear has little to no bearing on how a guy plays chess. Unless you assume losing it had some temporarily traumatic effect on my psyche?

Mr. Sylar might not be somebody you want to start playing games with.

He's about the definition of someone not being what they seem. Trust me, it's safer to politely stay away.

I had gathered as much, given the mutant powers.

He was on good terms with my roommate's former roommate, it seems.
