Character's Name: Falkner
Series: Pokemon
Timeline: End Game of Gold/Silver/Crystal
Canon Resource Link: Still here
Personality: Falkner's title is 'The Elegant Master of Flying Pokémon'. Supposedly, this means that he is very graceful and charming. However, this is not quite the case. Despite his cool demeanor, he can get a little hot headed every now and again; especially when it comes to the type match-up of Electricity and Flying, something he complains about before he battles the main trainer. He takes a lot of pride in the Flying type, especially his own Pokémon, saying that they are magnificent beings.

A few of his issues might stem from his father. While Falkner is considered a cool and handsome trainer, his father is said to be even more so. And while Falkner does not bring anything up about it, some of his cockiness, loudness, and hot headedness most likely came from his issues of trying to become like his father, or even better. However, he also seems to show a lot of respect for his missing father, because he, apparently, uses his father’s own Pokémon in battle. A lot of his decisions that he makes (Flying Pokémon, taking over the gym) seem to be, as the people of Violet City say, things that his father had done. Again, whether this is to show respect to his father, or he is trying to be more like him, is hard to say, as we never do see his father in the series.

The people seem to have a lot of respect for Falkner, one commenting on how well he’s taken over the gym. This could be considered, as well, part of the cause of his high pride in himself. At least, before battle; after battle, he shows humility towards the trainer (As well as disappointment in losing).
What your character can offer: He's a gym leader, so he's very good at training Pokemon.
What items will they be bringing with them? His clothes, a pocket full of Zephyr badges (Which allows Falkner's Pokemon to use Flash), and his two pokemon, Pidgey, and Pidgeotto

Third-Person Sample: That last trainer who came in...

Falkner had watched him battle closely. Sure, he had done well enough, but he was concerned, just slightly. How could someone treat their Pokemon like that? Monsterous. Absolutely monsterous. He paused for a moment, and turned his back to the gym, looking towards the back wall. A heavy sigh passed through his lips. It felt like he was watching someone punish a misbehaven child, the way he battled.

It wasn't exactly the most enjoyable experience, in short.

Falkner held his Pidgey in his arms, after letting it come out of the Pokeball. It nestled in it's outfit, making little noises as it peeked out every now and again. Lifting his arms, the gym leader watched the little bird swim around his shirt, coming out in the strangest places. Out his left shirt sleeve, from the bottom of his shirt... and he swore he felt feathers in his shoes. He sighed a little, and started to walk. Thinking about this trainer. He had turned towards the front of the gym, and started to walk faster. The Pidgey climbed out of his outfit, and hung out on his shoulder.

What was it exactly about that last trainer that concerned him? Besides the mistreatment of his Pokemon... he had seen that so many times before, so it couldn't be the thing that was bugging him as much as this thing was. The kid looked... evil. Shaking his head.

He had to focus and be ready for the next trainer. Leaving Violet Gym, he headed towards the Pokemon Center. His poor Pokemon... they were brutually damaged in this last battle, and he needed them to rest. As he walked, he placed his fingers on his chin.

He was hoping the next trainer... would have a little bit more respect for the creatures. They were suppose to be partners... not used as tools.

First Person: My father this, my father that… That‘s all that seems to matter to this town sometimes. Him… and he’s no longer here.

[He crossed his arms, thinking for a moment. He fiddled with the Pokeballs in his fingers.] …I’m better than him. A lot better. [He smirked a little bit.] That’s why he’s gone, and I’m the new Gym Leader.

I’m going to show Violet City what a good gym leader can do! They’ll start talking about me and me alone soon!

…Watch out, father. I’m going to take your place. I’m going to show everyone what a good bird trainer can do! Just you wait!
