A recent study suggests that it might be, and good for the mother too:

I don't doubt that limiting weight gain is no bad thing for mum and baby, after all,if mum gains a lot, she has it all to lose the other side, and carry while she has a newborn to care for, not always easiest. My only beef with that article is that it uses the term 'dieting' which everyone associates with weight loss, when what is means to get across is controlling your diet so you eat healthily and not literally for two to keep weight gain at a reasonable level. I know there are plenty of mums who have eaten anything and everything in sight under the idea of 'eating for two' and are usually the ones who find they are a couple of dress sizes larger after pregnancy.

I just personally worry that actively trying to lose weight, so reaching due date lighter than you started, is a recipe for either mum or baby having lost out on essential nutrients during the pregnancy.

I agree... it's one thing to limit weight gain while pregnant; it's quite another to actively pursue weight loss.

Wow. I stumbled across her Photobucket (which is public) and it has no fewer than 3 pee sticks, and also an invitation that has her address, e-mail, and cell phone number on it for a housewarming.

Considering the verbal and emotional abuse (and probably physical, too,) that her piece of shit husband throws at her, why would she want to procreate with him AGAIN?

I'd really like to believe no one is that dumb that they'd have all that personal info online like that. If I stick my fingers in my ears and make noise, will that make it not so???

Yeah... She's already got herself and one child in that environment, why put another there? Plus, so many people have offered advise and that for her and her situation and she just ignores it all.

she also was posting her pee sticks in a TTC community without a cut, like the day before Mothers Day. Made a lot of people pissed.

That's just gross. And rude.

It was Mother's Day in earlier time slots - like Australia :(

And she was only 'trying' for a month. Someone ripped her a new one over it though. Someone who had 'been trying a hell of a lot longer than you'.

It was a PITA to see her in the TTC comm, the Breastfeeding comm, the Pregnant comm. Oh gods it was a PITA.

ugh. i just ... i can't even with her. it's like either she's really stupid to the fact of what she does, or she truly does not care one iota.

was a pain before, will be a pain again. but at least we can hope for some luls out of this trainwreck!
