There have been groups doing that for few years now. We've supposedly got a group or two here in NYC.

I think that it sort of started with the Guardian Angels, partly. But the desire to be a superhero is strong in a lot of people.

Sure, I remember the Guardian Angels, and neighborhood watch groups have been around for a long time. But it's a fairly big leap from Curtis Sliwa to spandex and masks! :D
