The difference between fame and real life

You know, celebrities sometimes talk about what it’s like being inundated by fans wherever they go. Here’s a clip of David, at a premier where, yes, going through the gauntlet of fans and signing autographs is an expected thing. But still, when I saw this clip, I put myself in his place, and am amazed that he doesn’t just panic and run. Can you ( Read more... )

Yes!!! I just loved that! Actually, I'd seen the movie, and it was interesting how they totally changed the story from the book for the movie. I really enjoyed the story, and I really really really enjoyed having David Tennant in my ear for a couple of hour or longer dog walks. Oh, le sigh.

Awwwwwww! David at home! I have family in the Glasgow suburbs and it's just exactly like that, lol! SO normal! So lovely, thank you for sharing, what a sweetheart he is!

Honestly, those video diaries are what turned me into a fan of David Tennant the actor. I feel like I'm not just a fan of his work, but a fan of him, because he does seem like he's genuinely a nice and very grounded person.

And yes, I would hate to be famous! But it's nice when celebrities handle it with grace.

I totally agree. David's video diaries are so wonderful. I've seen other actors do similar things, but no one else is as charming, and personal, as warm as David. He truly makes it seem as if he's a friend of yours, just talking to you. It's fun to see him be excited about small things, or fascinated by getting a police escort, etc. He just seems so not-full-of-himself and so welcoming.

Oh oh! We have got to chat or meat some time soon. You! Are! So! Cool! Wanna go to dragon con with me this year? We'll be able to get into events in the front because of the being blind thing, and we'd have tons of fun! :D I, too, would be very uncomfortable being famous. For me, though, it would be the objectification of my person and my personal space that'd drive me mad. Did that make any sense? I'm coming down with a cold and have taken some meds for it. so I hope it did.

[blush] I don't know how cool I am, but I'd love to chat or meet! Oooh, DragonCon! I've never been, but I think I'd love it. The only con I've ever been to is the Creation Star Trek Con, the big one in Vegas, for the past few years. I was thinking about going to ComiCon this past year, but didn't.

I know exactly what you mean by the "objectification of ... person" -- it makes perfect sense. That may be the most disturbing part of that level of fame, I'd guess. And, as for "personal space"... have you heard David tell the story of the most inappropriate place he was ever asked for an autograph?? If not, I'll link you up. Don't mean to be coy, but if you haven't heard it, it's hilarious and I don't want to ruin it for you. :D

This is a collection of snippets from a longer interview, called. very accurately, "David Tennant being Hilarious." You'll know which one I'm referring to when you come to it. I think the audio/video sync is a bit off, but it's so worth it. You'll enjoy this, if you haven't already heard/seen some of the bits before.

Oh, you're welcome! It was fun to do; I really enjoyed it. And I have to give credit to my daughter, who really was the one who identified the specifics from most of the scenes.
