As promised I have a tutorial for some of the icons in the batch I posted yesterday.
It's a very very easy tutorial with only 5 steps but it does involve Selective Coloring and Curves.
I also realised that I actually skipped tutorial no. 6. I started writing it and never finished it then started writting tutorial no. 7 and just skipped 6! Anyway I'll make sue I finish it sometime this week and then I'll post it.

This tutorial works best with hi-res pics so I suppose it won’t be very good for caps.
Step 1. As always the first step is to prep your base. If the image your using is fairly good quality you shouldn’t need to sharpen it too much.
result Step 2. Using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer up the Saturation to about +12.If your image looks over saturated you may want to lower the saturation or take out the layer all together.
result Step 3. Create a Selective Color layer with these settings:
R: -100, -33, +100, +27
Y: -80, -17, +69, +53
C: +100, -100, -100, +100
B: +100, 0, -100, +100
N: +17, -7, -6, 0
B: 0, 0, 0, +20
result Step 4. Fill a new layer with #1B0000 and set it to Exclusion 100%.
result Step 5. Create a Curves layer with these settings:
RBG:
Point 1- Input: 112 Output: 132
Red:
Point 1 - Input: 46 Output: 58
Point 2 - Input: 142 Output: 143
Green:
Point 1 - Input: 70 Output: 54
Point 2 - Input: 122 Output: 131
Blue:
Point 1- Input: 115 Output: 143
Lower the opacity to 73% and you’re done!
If when you finish this step our icon looks far too bright duplicate your prepped image and set it to Multiply then play around with the opacity.
