Sunday finished getting my SCUBA certification. Cost me less than $200 total, x2. The latest two dives were really cool. Saw some clown fish (like in Saving Nemo, the Disney movie). Got down to 18 meters, which is the recommended limit for new divers ( Read more... )

This past weekend I formally began the training for a PADI Open Water SCUBA license. We did the confined water dives in a pool and 1 open water dive. We have only some academic work and 2 more dives left. I'm looking forward to some cool dives. At first I couldn't determine if it was a slight and sudden case of vertigo or if it was something else. I finally realized what it was when I noticed some things in my room shaking slightly. Grade A. Sci-Fi. I read it all in one day because I couldn't put it down. Luckily it wasn't a work day. I am still thinking about it. Definitely one of the best books I have ever read. That is no big surprise however, this book is already considered by most a must-read book for any serious Sci-Fi fans.

I am no longer going to review every movie I see. I am seeing too many and have fallen behind. I am only going to review very good or very bad or otherwise exceptional movies. There are just too many average movies in the in the C+ to B+ range that are not worth the effort.

I managed to fix my microwave oven for less than $2 USD! It was accidentally plugged into a 220v outlet, but it was only designed for 110 volts. There was instantly a popping sound followed by smoke as the fuse and a resistor of the "noise filter" were both radically overpowered and exploded, spewing soot within a small area of the microwave. Grade B-. The movies in this story seem to have slipped a notch each time. I rate the first one as A+, the second as B+, the third as B-. There are two many questions left unanswered at the end. I like for a movie to have some depth that you can think about afterwards, but I don't like for them to leave too many questions blatantly unanswered ( Read more... )
