Brushfires in south Brevard County, where I live.

I've been getting a lot of panicky emails from various members of my flist, concerned about the (admittedly horrible) brushfires in my area. I didn't realize it was on the national news. I'd just like to let everyone know that I'm alright and not in immediate danger. I live on an island and the fires would need to jump a mile-wide river to get to ( Read more... )

Wow... I know the hell of fire. Every summer, parts of So Cal go up like that. I've seen so much ash falling from the sky it looks like it is snowing. My good vibes and prayers go out to you guys. Stay safe.

I'll take Florida (hurricanes and fires) over California (earthquakes and fires) anyday. :P

We need all the good vibes, though. Last I heard, the building closest to my school on the south side went up in flames yesterday evening. Scary stuff.

Yeah, it is definitely a "holy shit" thing. I started to get really worried yesterday evening, when our local news reported that all emergency workers except firefighters were being ordered to grab as much as they could and get the hell out, because there's nothing more they can do. That's ominous.

I haven't been outside to look yet this morning, but I'm told it's worse than yesterday. Fantastic.
