Since I'm a guy I was going to say that I don't do so, but SOMEONE beat me to that joke. ;-)
To me fashion relates to clothing which others will actually see when you're out in public, so I don't understand how non-matching bra and panties can be a fashion faux pas.
Wearing undergarments which are comfortable, functional, and as you noted ones which (for a bra) are a neutral color so as not to be noticeable through one's top, makes perfect sense to me.
I usually don't. Even when I buy a matching set, I might wear them together like once; also, every time I've bought a matching set, it was because they were sold together.
I bet most people don't regularly match their underwear.
I've never matched them, seeing as I don't even buy bras and underwear from the same place.
I also don't understand why it's such a faux pas. Generally speaking, bras and underwear shouldn't be seen ANYWAYS, so like it really matters. And those who do happen to see them probably have other thoughts besides matching undergarments on their mind. :P
