So in my last entry, I asked people to provide me with prompts that I would write ficlets for. I planned to just post them in the comments of that entry. BUT THEN. Then I wrote this. And it is far too big for that. This is for ivanolix, who requested future!Sansa/Tyrion. And since that is one of MAH PAIRINGS for ASoIaF, she got like, this huge thing

Thank you for telling me about this fic! I haven't really read any Sansa/Tyrion yet, but this is just the kind of thing I was hoping for. It's really lovely, just how I imagine them, with Sansa older and wiser and obviously changed, but I love that she's learned to laugh, and even to find those safe places to laugh at him.

So many great moments--that she still hasn't shaken her fear of the Lannisters; that she's compromised and wears the gold; the accidentally taking off ahead of him but then waiting without going back and making him feel self-conscious; and OMG, the kneeling. That was beautiful. As is Tyrion's gift. Honestly, I think he's the most truly romantic person in the series.

Gah. SO GOOD. I will read anything you write for this pairing!

And can I friend you? Because your Westeros app was so awesomely amusing.

I'm just so glad you like it, hon. <3 I felt kind of like an asshat being "Oh, well I did post this other thing which, WHICH YOU SHOULD READ." But then I realized I am kind of an asshat and just went with it. Heh

No, self-promotion is necessary in this fandom, I think; it's really hard to find fic for some reason, I guess because of GRRM's stance against it? I'm always happy to hear of something good rather than having to wade into ff.net. (I couldn't find anything for this pairing at AO3...)

I very much agree about these two being able to heal each other--that's one of the things that really attracts me to the pairing, and I like the idea of a Lannister being the one to heal the hurts the Lannisters have done to Sansa, and of the two houses who this was really all about coming together in the end. (And I can't decide whether I want them to be Lord and Lady of Winterfell, or Casterly Rock. Okay, why not both?)

Yay for ASOIAF friends! Hopefully you won't find me too annoying. I do a lot of Dany/Jorah squeeing and I don't know how you feel about that, LOL. I probably should have warned you in advance!

Dany is another of my 28 favorite characters (literally, I probably have that many 'favorites' in this series because THE CHARACTERS, OMG THE CHARACTERS). So please squee away. XD

mrstater sent me over to read this, and she was totally right: this is sweet and lovely. I ship Sansa with half of Westeros, including Tyrion. ;) This is just the kind of scenario I imagine them in.

At least it was ugly right on the surface, unlike so many things in life that at first appeared fair and good, only to mask so much ugliness beneath. There was a certain truth to be found in an ugly face.

That's my favorite bit, because it seems like just the kind of lesson Sansa is in the process of learning.

I'm hijacking this comment thread to say that YOU TWO NEED TO BE FRIENDS LIKE NAO. Emily's Tyrion/Sansa fic is the reason I started seriously shipping that pair. XD

This comment is a few years late, but -- oh, what a beautiful story. I love the characterization here -- both Sansa and Tyrion have aged so believably through their experiences, and the quiet affection between them is wonderful. Despite the awful start to their relationship, there's a sense that they could be really compatible if they found a place where they could trust each other and be truthful, and this really makes that work so well. And apart from that, the writing is just beautiful: the image of the two of them outside in the godswood forehead to forehead is going to stick with me for awhile. Thank you for such a lovely story!

Totally in love with this little story. I adore this couple, unlikely as it appears to become canon in future books and this is just so full of hope and tenderness but it is also very realistic and well written. Thanks so much.
