I can't believe that people mix up Australian and New Zealand accents. They pronounce their vowels completely differently. It's not that they elongate them, or shorten them, it's that they are completely different. So six comes out like sex, and step comes out as stip. I personally find it quite comical. I want to laugh when I hear New Zealanders

Haha, the six reminds me of my mom's pronunciation of Shakespeare, "Sex-spear."
