“You're not supposed to drive when you're angry," Ollie says from the back of the motorcycle. If it didn't mean taking her focus away from the chase, she'd turn around and punch him for that one. But there's no way she's letting Question and Huntress get away, not now. So she shouts, "They're heading towards the waterfront. Hang on!," over the ( Read more... )

Dick's patrolling alone tonight. All right, actually, he's patrolling again alone. He left Tim in bed with a kiss, crawled out and suited up, and came out for a walk-slash-patrol to work out the mess in his head. Between Alfred arriving, Stephanie being alive, Tim being on-and-off betrayed and giddy, and Bruce being not dead yet at least, that mess has begun to spill into his dreams.

When he turns to walk back up the beach, he thinks his dreams have begun to spill into his patrolling. A burst of comm noise that he can't make out joins the splash that he just heard, and Dick's off at a dead run, stopping just long enough to pull the maglite out of his boot and flash it a few times to give whoever it is a direction to swim. "Over here!"

Dinah's about half-way to the shore when she sees the light begin to flash in her direction and she curses herself for being so careless as to give away her location. Whoever it is on the beach has her at a distinct disadvantage now and she really isn't happy about it. He could take her out easily if he wanted to, and she figures it's safer to assume that's exactly what he means to do. So, she ducks quickly under the water and starts swimming in a much less straight line. It's the best she can come up with under the circumstances and she'll be damned if she goes down without a fight.

The blonde head goes under - no struggle, no waving at the light, too strong, too quick...she's not drowning. She's trying to hide from him. "Idiot," he growls while he runs, and drops to a stop at the water's edge, scanning for any sign of her.

If he's wrong, he's got a limited window to find her. If she doesn't surface in one minute, he'll have to go in after her. If she does... Dick stills, listens, and watches. Ready, in case she wants a fight.

Staying under the water, she makes her way toward the shore. When she finally has to take another breath she makes it as quick as possible, barely breaking the surface. She's hoping that with the waves and the darkness, the man on the beach didn't see her.

Either way, she's feeling a lot more confident now that she has a plan. If she could just get him into the ocean with her, she'd probably have the upper hand. She's pretty damn good at fighting in the water, and for that she says a silent thanks to Wildcat. Ted always did believe in training for every possible contingency.
