Brooke was still in love with her new house. It was big and spacious and every inch of it was just beautiful. There were a few things that could use her decorative touch, but overall, it was beyond nice. And right on the water, with that little wooden deck with it's little wooden beach chairs, and oh. There was just so much about it she was crazy ( Read more... )

The moment that Brooke enveloped her into a massive hug, Haley felt all of her nerves disappear. Her nerves had had absolutely nothing to do with Brooke and everything to do with Haley. When Brooke and Peyton first arrived back in Tree Hill, Haley had felt a small familiar tingling of inferiority. It hadn't mattered that Peyton wasn't a success in Los Angeles, it had mattered that they'd both gone after their dreams, while Haley had been barely holding her family together. With each 'reunion' with her friends that feeling slowly eroded away, until just now. Haley held onto Brooke just a little longer than necessary before stepping back with a smile.

As her friend slipped her hand through Haley's arm, she felt like her old self. It was a very nice to feel that way again. "It sounds great, Brooke. Thanks. I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to this." Her mouth fell open when she stepped inside, then Haley did a slow circle. "Brooke, it's beautiful. So, how does it feel to be a home owner in Tree Hill?"

Brooke smiled widely when Haley mentioned how much she'd been looking forward to their little lunch date. The truth was, she couldn't begin to tell Haley how much she'd been looking forward to it herself. She'd come home for Peyton, who was now living with her, so she'd gotten plenty of time with her since she'd back. Aside from her, she'd also logged some pretty serious quality time with Lucas as well. In fact, she felt like she'd almost spent more time with Lindsay by default, than she'd spent with the woman who honored her by making Brooke godmother of her son. Her totally adorable, and way awesome son. Secretly, Brooke was both beyond excited and also a little nervous to hear everything she'd missed out on from Jamie's life while she'd been so busy. Excited, because she really wanted to know. Nervous, 'cause the guilt was already there. She really should have come back to Tree Hill way before now. All she could really do at this point was try her best to make up for it ( ... )

Haley laughed at Brooke's enthusiasm over her house, remembering her own when Nathan had showed them theirs. "That's exactly how I felt, too. Well, that and terrified that I was a home owner now." The terror had really kicked in when Nathan had his accident. Not that they had to worry about money because of his shoe deal and signing contract, but she had visions of that dwindling away and they only would have her teacher's salary. Luckily, Nathan got the kick in the ass he needed and was doing a lot better. They were doing better.

"Show me everything. Let's do a clockwise motion and don't leave anything out." Haley was so very proud of her friend and not just because of the Hos over Bro's clothing line. She was proud of how far Brooke had come as a person. "I'm so proud of you, Brooke." Haley smiled over at her and gave her a quick hug. "You've followed your dream and you're still the same Brooke I know and love."

Brooke smiled with a sympathy that didn't reflect any real understanding of the terrifying part of it. She'd gotten so used to just doing things, and never really being afraid to do them. She worked in an industry where her competitors would probably eat her alive if her mother wasn't such a pitbull when it came to business. As much as Victoria really drove her nuts, she'd been the thick skin that Brooke had never really developed on her own. So she was still free to do reckless things like open a high end clothing store in what was practically the middle of nowhere. And walk into a house and just take it, no real questions asked. There was a certain freedom that came along with being in chains, so to speak ( ... )
