After his encounter with Izzie, George was not looking forward to talking to his wife; it was a touchy subject. Still, he couldn’t believe he had run into Izzie!
“Hey, baby,” Callie called from inside as he hung up his coat. She was making noise in the kitchen; he hoped she wasn’t cooking dinner.
It was now or never. “I saw Izzie Stevens today.” Callie stopped abruptly. “She invited us over for dinner.”
“Invited us, or invited you?” This was the first time in years he had heard that tone of voice from her: sharp and angry.
“She invited the both of us. I ran into her at the store. We didn’t talk long.”
“But long enough to get a dinner invite?”
“Callie, are you--?”
“No, George, I’m not okay. You were in love with her, and now… I had plans tonight, George, and I’m not just going to drop everything--“
“Please, Callie. She’s got a family now, its just dinner.” He stopped, and kissed her. “I love you, Callie, but I can’t refuse this invite. She was my best friend.”
She pulled away, and looked at him for a few moments. “I’ll get dressed. What time is dinner?”
