In his leopard form, Ernst had been quietly waiting all day for Norma to finish her work and begin walking home. His attitude towards her at the performance seemed so unfathomable in hindsight, so uncharacteristic, inexplicable and more importantly unfair to the one most important to him. His biggest fear ever since acquiring that cursed rune was that he would lose his identity as a human being and eventually become something entirely different. Could the beast rune had something to do with his behaviour the other night? Ernst wondered if it was even safe for him to approach Norma anymore, but this was the longest he had ever been away from her, and decided that today was the day. The day to look her in the eye and apologize, and take whatever judgment he deserves.

He had already transformed into his half-human form upon seeing the young tamer approach. However, no words, no dialogue, came up as she drew nearer, only the look of remorse.

As she passed by the dark spot where he was, Norma slowed down. After so many years, she would sometimes get the feeling that another was right next to her. Usually... Ernst. He was nocturnal most of the time after all and she commonly had to look for him once in a while during the evenings.

Unfortunately, her eyes weren't exactly great at spotting exactly where anything was in the dark. She stared at where she thought someone was. Norma hoped slightly that no one was there, but at the same time, if it was him...

There it was again, that small feeling of insecurity. This was uncharted territory for him, normally he would have confidence in working out anything together, but in this case he found it hard to imagine being forgiven if even he couldn't do it to himself.

"Norma." Ernst mustered up the courage to speak first, mostly fueled by his fear that she was deliberately giving him the silent treatment.

Normally, she'd have jumped in fright in that ditzy way she did, but silliness wasn't exactly appropriate at the moment. Although she was a little startled to hear the voice despite. Norma took a good minute to respond.

"E-ernst." That was a dumb answer she thought. What was she supposed to say? He didn't look mad, but sadness was probably a better word for his appearance. Should she try running away? No, he'd catch her in two seconds if he really wanted. Or let her take off and not even go after her... She thought that was worse.
