"sometimes those pathways come so cluttered"

Nov 05, 2006 18:06

I just got a text message from Brian, wishing me well tomorrow and asking if I want to hang out and eat tasty food later on this week. My first reaction was to burst into tears. This is going to be hard. Worth it, in the end, once we can be really good friends and move beyond the rest of it, but hard.

I guess the best things in life always are.

Good luck tomorrow!! what time does your training run? You'll have to give me the scoop so i know what to expect.

Do you find it frustrating, that (seemingly) because we happen to be female and have an excess of hormones at times, that we cry when we really, really would rather not? I find this myself. I hate crying, specifically crying in public. and yet sometimes it's unavoidable because the universe seems to conspire against me on certain inauspicious occasions. do you think it's some sort of ingrown reflex for us? This is just my opinion, thoughts really, that have been popping into my head lately.i just want to make sure you don't think that this is in response to your situation, more so that it just prompted me to ask.

That being said...I don't know the recent turn of events, but I do hope things get better and I'm glad that you're able to think of it in a positive light. You deserve to be happy.

Thanks :)
I'm training from 8.30-4.30 for two weeks (I'd forgotten that this hour of the morning existed). I don't know if I'll have a scoop to give you, though, as the divisions seem to all be run very differently (up to and including rules on whether or not you can have a coffee or water at your desk), but I'll see what I can do.

I cry a lot, admittedly. I've always chalked that up more to being over-sensitive and a bit emotionally unstable, though, rather than to hormones. I've actually been trying to think of an anthropological use for being prone to tears, but I can't think of one (aside from cleaning out your eyes; I expect that men would have needed that more, however, given that they were doing the hunting, which presumably stirs up more dirt than doing the child-rearing and gathering).

I don't actually mind crying, let it be said, provided it's not in public.

Also, thank you.

Dusting out the cave (cue the Neanderthal in a French Maid outfit image ;) and gathering food in the dirt might actually require more eye-cleaning than hunting, where (I think) it's better if you don't stir up much dirt. :p

Hard, but worth it. Give it time.
