i hate it. im really not enjoying my course ... i dont feel challenged at all ... i'm bored and im not motivated and i dont feel like im doing what i want to do. i want to be working with kids and actually helping them ... not just drilling in a load of crap that doesnt actually mean anything *sigh* i dunno.... i'll see what happens
see this is the thing everything says they hope that i dont but i dont get why it affects them ... i know so many people that haven't bothered with degrees and are doing fine .. my sister for a start. I dunno ... I'm just not really enjoying it much to be honest.
If you're not enjoying it then that's fair enough, it'll be hard to motivate yourself to work at something you're not enjoying.
However, from my point of view, it seems a shame to come so far just to leave it all behind, it's why I didn't quit in the third year despite nearly going mad (well, kinda :P).
As for why it affects them, you're right, I don't know you too well (met you once for five minutes or so :P) but if someone I know if unhappy then I'd like to try and help if I can. You are right though, you can survive in life without a degree these days. As a matter of fact, because so many people have degrees their worth has been devalued anyway.
It's a big decision though so I'd honestly hope you've thought it through but at the end of the day you only get one life (so many people believe anyway) so if you're not happy and not gonna be happy then yeah, don't stay. Maybe just drop the teaching part and focus on your specialism?
Well, this is your first year right? So if you want my opinion, if you really feel that this is not the course for you, change it! It took me three years to realise that despite my love for English, actually studying it wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be and now I regret it because going for something completely different after three years is too late. So think about it when your head is clear, and if you feel like you need a change, just do it! (um... I'm advertising Nike! *hehe*)
I wish you didn't dislike your course so much dalin but maybe you just need some motivation to make you realise how much you like it again. You've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I've known you and not many people decide what they want to do and honestly stick to it for as long as you have. Maybe if you really hate it you could consider changing courses and doing a PGCE?I'm sure you would find a more subject specific degree easier to read around and find your own interests so that you'd enjoy it more. Then you can make it as challenging as you want to... Just a few ideas. But let me know if you want to talk about it and I'll call you. Cheer up hun.Love you xxx
