Yesterday I went to get those supplements that sound like a Greek Resturant... the ones clevergirl recommended to prevent future yeast infections. It was after my Street Harassment Project meeting, and I had a good 41 minutes before my train left Penn Station for NJ, so I checked out the GNC in Penn. What is WITH retail people these days! Zach and I were in Borders and we asked the guy where Dan Simmons new book was. He asked if we meant Illium, Simmons' book that came out this summer. No, we said, the new mystery. "He just put out a book this summer. No one puts out another book that fast." He checked in the computer upon our insistence only to discover that A) we were right, and B) their supplier had screwed up which is the only reason they didn't have any copies.

THEN we asked for the new Far Side collection (two gargantuan books that weigh a ton and cost, like, a hunnert bucks). The guy sighs and says, "well, if you REALLY want to spend that much money, I'll show you where it is." Excuse me sir? Did you just try to dissuade me from spending money in your store? You colossal ass!

Ugh! What a rude kid--what is with people anymore? It seems that store clerks are either rude or gossipy, instead of truly being helpful. This kind of thing seems to happen to me alot and when I give 'em a kind of "back off" attitude they get even creepier thinking that my business is their business if I'm in "their" lil environment ( ... )
