I will not lie, I love getting art. I love seeing what people pull from the things I write, how they interpret my words visually.
That being said, I received three fantastic pieces by
amkave.
From the Artist:
Art was done with pen, ink, and acrylic paint on heavy linen paper stock. The first piece is the Inn itself - the original painting is quite small - only six inches square. So the four people on the porch are about half an inch high - sadly, I couldn't get a whole lot of detail in half an inch - but it is supposed to be the Bryars on the porch with Brendon and Jon on the steps (three guesses as to who is wearing the lavender hoodie and the first two don't count). But the Inn was such an omnipresent PLACE for the story - I felt the need to start with that. I was pretty happy with the way they've turned out, and I hope the author likes them too! --author's note: YES, YES I LIKE THEM. A LOT.
I never really describe the inn in the story, so I think it's amazing to see what
amkave came up with, and I love everyone out on the porch!
To me (and hopefully others), this story is about two finding their way back by realizing what they have around them, so I think this picture is a great 'snapshot' of our main characters.
Betty!! I'm fairly sure I hadn't named her in the rough draft, but this is an absolutely beautiful rendition of what I had pictured in my head!!
I am honored to have received such wonderful works!
Please make sure to view the full size versions and leave kudos to
amkave!
