I'm a Mac!

How is it that I have the only phone in the world that isn't Mac-compatible? Oh iPhone, truly I dream of the day that you are released in a dual CDMA/GSM model, which is the day I will buy you. I miss my little SLVR and how I could just jab it into Gandalf with my camera cord (my camera cord!) and it would happily sync up my NPR podcasts and ( Read more... )

CDMA? I didn't know you used that network. We're actually phasing it out in Australia right now.

CDMA is the primary network-type used in America. I guess Americans don't care that it cuts them off from using their phone in the rest of the world. We do have a couple GSM networks, but they're not nearly as popular. It's just annoying!

Hmmm, I hadn't realised that. That means you have no sim cards right? At least that's how CDMA works here. And the coverage is apparently better. Wow what happens if I come over to the US with my 3G/GSM phone then, wah how can I use prepaid? Is there such a thing as prepaid?

We do have SIM cards, but I think only on AT&T. I don't think they do pay as you go or prepaid, but you can get phone cards. The cell phone business is ridiculous here. It hasn't become free and open like in the UK, where you can get a SIM card from Carphone Warehouse and pay the same amount to call internationally as you'd do to call locally.
