Personal History:

Priyanka was born on February 23rd, 1996, to Drivya and Ameya Singh. They immigrated from India to the U.S. when Priyanka was only six months old. They settled in a small town in Oregon, where Priyanka was enrolled in an all-girls school system the moment she was old enough to go to school. Being a model child (she always did well at school, was well-behaved at home, and took piano, violin, and cello lessons) up until this point, her parents found no reason to worry about her. Things were relatively normal until Priyanka started sixth grade, where she met Cindy, a fellow sixth grader and an Oregon native. The two became fast friends and as time went on, they became closer and closer.

Cindy came out as a lesbian to Priyanka at the beginning of freshman year, and Priyanka was conflicted. She really liked Cindy and secretly had feelings for her (ones that were reciprocated), but she also did like boys (sometimes, at least) and her parents always spoke ill about LGBT+ people. Because of this, Priyanka and Cindy began to secretly date behind her parents' backs. Long nights on the phone and computer became common, and Priyanka's parents were starting to get concerned. As far as they knew, their daughter was a straight, single little girl. Priyanka kept up this facade until the end of Freshman year, when her mother was putting clothes in her dresser and found hidden photobooth pictures.

They were all of Cindy and Priyanka, being close, hugging, and kissing. To many, the pictures were innocent and even cute, but to her parents, something was very wrong. They took away Priyanka's phone, computer, and forbade her from being around Cindy. The second her freshman year was over, she was pretty much a prisoner in her own home. Her parents were extremely worried about their daughter. They blamed Cindy in all of this, but what if their daughter was now gay? What if she was tricked into liking girls?

Drivya and Ameya wanted what they thought was best, so for two months during the summer, they sent Priyanka to a conversion therapist, where they paid their hard earned money on some quack that tried to set Priyanka straight. Literally. Not only did this not make her straight, it traumatized her to the point where she was terrified of herself and her own feelings and she developed dermatillomania due to all the stress she was put under.

When Priyanka completed the two months of therapy, her parents were ecstatic. Their daughter was cured! Besides for the nail-shaped scars on her arms, stomach, and legs, their darling daughter was fixed from the 'evil' lifestyle that was consuming her...or so they wanted to believe. Priyanka still liked girls, but told her parents she was saved and she was so glad she was sent to that horrible terrible wonderful therapist. With their fears put to rest, Priyanka's parents packed everything up and moved all the way to the nice and small town Lima, Ohio. They thought a move was exactly what Priyanka needed to truly be well again. Priyanka was enrolled in WMHS, a choice that was personally made by her parents. (They didn't want the situation with Cindy happening again)

A couple weeks before her first day of school, she met Drake, the son of their next door neighbors. The two quickly became friends and the Singhs were immediately excited about a potential boyfriend for their daughter. What they didn't know was that Drake was gay, and secretly dating a boy from the next town over. Of course, his parents were none the wiser, so that got Priyanka thinking. She figured that to get their parents of their backs, Drake and she could pretend that they're dating, but only when their parents were around. This turned out to be successful, because not only was Priyanka given her phone and computer back, but she was also known as the model child once again.

Priyanka started her Sophmore year at her new school with a positive outlook, or so that's how it seemed. Inside, her mind was spinning with worry. Can they tell? Do they know? Will they tell anyone? I don't want to go back to that therapist. For the first couple weeks, Priyanka was closed of and anti-social, terrified of anything going wrong. This continued until she saw a sign-up sheet posted on a wall that said "New Directions! Come join the Glee club. Everyone is welcomed and everyone gets in. Singers and band members needed." Everyone is welcomed? Priyanka was suddenly thankful for all of those music lessons. She had found her calling in high school, and its name was New Directions.

Personality Traits:

Quiet: Although she isn't a mute, she won't go the extra mile to get a word in, especially when she's around a lot of people.

Secretive: With parents like hers, she has to be. Her activities, opinions, and sexuality have to kept underwraps.

Friendly: When others approach her, they are greeted with a smile. As long as they aren't in her personal bubble, she welcomes potential friends.

Skittish: She is easily scared and will jump at almost anything. Her time in conversion therapy is to blame for this.

Inquisitive: Her mind is filled with many, many things and she always wants to know more. If that means taking a lot of honors or AP classes, then so be it. She takes them because she wants to, not because she's forced to.

Hey, everyone! I have a quick question for you all. Is anyone knowledgable in the field of cosmetics? I'm having a hard time finding concealer that fits my skin tone or concealor that conceals my scars. But I guess that's the price you pay when you have dark skin! I've wasted a lot of money trying to find make-up that doesn't look cheap. Even the expensive stuff tends to look a bit plastic, which makes me just want to give up and use the two dollar stuff you get at a dollar store. Oh well, you live and learn, right?

Oh, one more question! Well, it's more like a poll. I play the piano, the violin, and the cello, but I feel like I don't have time for all three of them anymore. If you had the choice, which two would you keep and which one would you stop playing? Just curious! I may just be over stressed from everything, but I'm not sure if I can keep up with three instruments anymore.

Well, that's about it. Thanks for taking the time to read, guys! :) Have a good day!

- Priyanka

Third Person (may be past or present tense)

She is living a lie. A complete and utter lie. Every morning Priyanka gets up, gets dressed, and waits for one of her parents to invite Drake over for dinner. She then brushes her teeth, brushes her hair, and pretends to send a text to her 'boyfriend'. Her parents seem content until Priyanka comes down for breakfast.

"Priyanka, how is Drake?"

"Priyanka, is he coming tonight?"

"Priyanka, you two are so cute together. I'm glad you found a boy like him."

It goes on and on until Priyanka glances down at her phone, putting on a disappointed face. "He said he couldn't make it, he promised he'd help his mom do work around the house."

Of course, she never even talked to him in the first place, but they didn't need to know that. But instead of that puting them off, it only fuels the fire.

"Oh, he's such a good son."

"When you two get married, you'll have someone who can help you around the house."

Priyanka rolls her eyes and shakes her head, sinking her teeth into a piece of toast. "I told you, Mama, I'm not getting married to him." A piercing glare from her mother makes her add, "Not yet, at least."

Her parents calm down and her mother hands Priyanka a sack lunch, like the conversation had never happened. "Have a good day at school," she says, the smile on her face looking more forced than anything else. Priyanka knows she has said the wrong thing to her today.

"Thank you. Bye, Mama, bye Papa. I love you." Without a second thought, Priyanka makes a run out the door, finally safe from her prying parents.

She lefts out a sigh of relief. "Finally." But she knows she'll have to do this all again tomorrow. It's like a cycle.

Rinse, lather, repeat.
