nana, my mother, me and ariana. 4 generations.

So it happened Monday night. She was with everyone she loved. We all said goodbye, we all told her it was okay to go. When she first found out she was very sick, she told us all, "I don't want you all goddamn standing over me crying"...and for that moment, that's what we were all doing. Because we knew it was literally minutes. The stubborn thing waited until we reassured her over and over that grampy was going to be taken care of. And waited until we were all done crying. But that is just typical Nana, and I wouldn't expect her leaving this world to be any different than any other day with Nana. She waited until she was ready, and we were ready, and she knew that her husband would be taken care of by us. So stubborn that lady is. I wish you all knew my nana, and those of you that have met her, I know that she's got a place stuck somewhere in your heart. Because she is the way she is and will apologize to no one for it. I'm going to miss her so much, but being with her every day and seeing her that way, I know that this is what she needs. Wherever she is, it's a better place than here.

I had to tell Ariana what had happened, because we go over Nana's all the time. She would talk to her on the phone all the time. She knew that Nana was sick. My mom was sick with cancer, but she got better. My Aunt was sick with cancer, but she also got better. Then she sees Nana sick, but Nana doesn't get better. So we went over there to run some errands for Grampy yesterday, and I prep Ariana. I say, "we're going to Nana's house, but Nana isn't going to be there." She asks why. I tell her that she knows how Nana always loves to take care of everyone, because that is what she does. And I tell her that if Nana is up in the sky, she can take care of everyone all the time and always. And Ariana thought that was a great thing. That her Nana could be in the sky so that she could always watch over everyone. She asked, "could nana be a star?" "sure." "a cloud?" "sure." This kept going on, and I just explained that her Nana could be anything she wanted up in the sky. And Ariana told me that the sky is where all the good people go, so that is where Nana belongs. She is so right.
