THAT TITLE SOUNDS SEXY RIGHT?
Okay.
While the runes in question were mentioned in the Character Meme, writing their specifics got much more detailed than I really wanted to cover within the meme. I tend to do memes half for myself and half for the people I roleplay with who will have the opportunity to

This concept was born of the idea that the Scourge did a whole lot of experimenting. It spices up RP and isn't meant to score more points with anyone, it's just the end result of an extended 'what if?' scenario I concocted on my old realm.
I like this. A lot. My previous DK was disliked by a certain group of DK RPers because OMG ALL SCOURGE MUST BE PERFECT AND ALL 100% THE SAME. No. The Scourge must have done a whole lot of experimenting, in which case there would be all levels of successful outcomes and things that are more useful than other things.
My guess was wrong on why he couldn't name the ghoul. I thought the ghoul was independent enough that it would be like naming your co worker or a friend -- it's more something they should come with.
I really like the rune connection idea. Note to self: Release squirrels around ghoul. ;)

But the general attitude of even the Royal Apothecary Society and other groups of Forsaken leads me to believe the Scourge had to have something similar. They certainly had mass "factories" to assemble things and they also had people like Professor Putricide who ran experiments and developed new forms of plague and terror and built abominations. The Scourge was full of mad scientists and there was definitely no shortage of body parts and whole corpses to play around with. So mind-melding a guy with a ghoul didn't work out as well? At least there's three hundred more bodies to try again with! X3
Dunno why I am up at this hour realizing I have comments, but it is polite to answer them and yay!

I sure hope it's okay to deviate in this way, since Thistle's background touched on this, too. (The DK who originally messed with his brain fancied himself a scientist and was continuing with his work post-Lich King.)
It makes sense to me. Like you said, there sure wasn't a shortage of bodies. If you tried something and it didn't work out well, either re-kill it or if it's good enough, send it out to the battle field -- DKs didn't have to be ~perfect~ to function!
