It's whistling against the dark. We are prone to find humor in these things because they frighten us, and it is a normal human defense to turn to humor to escape that.

It can get tiring at times, but I understand it.

I do get that, but for me I think it's less the joking and more the fact that people keep on whining about how corrupt human beings are and yet the same people I hear going "Oh man, I'm such a misanthrope." end up doing stuff like this all the time.

It's understandable, yes, but I just get a little tired of the irony of it all.

I like zombies but only if they're fictional. If something like god forbid a real zombie apocalypse happened, it could be start just that easily.

Even with that said, I'm annoyed by the whole 'lol zombies' crap going around.

I first heard about the story from an annoying "lol zombies" coworker, so I'm just angry about the whole thing already.

Admittedly, I a) do not give one single fuck about zombies and actually think they're kind of a dumb "monster," and b) found the situation really, really horrifying.

The thing for me is that it was only partly about what you mentioned. Partly (largely?) it was about the fact that turning it into a zombie meme was about the least clever thing I've seen the internet do in weeks.

So I ended up with a tension headache from gritting my teeth at a combination of callous hypocrisy and lack of creativity. WAY TO HIT MY BIGGEST PET PEEVES, INTERTUBES.
