Thanks for posting this. I had no idea he had changed his focus from racial to economic injustice.

Agreed. It's amazing how many people buy into what they're fed without thinking twice as to whether it's accurate or not.

I suppose accurate isn't the right word, moreso that they are missing other pieces, and one cannot be accurate without the full story. It's Monday, sorry for the double comment.

Exactly.

And it sucks to hear people from social stratas giving him a nod and claiming his sentiment as their own - when simply looking at history it is evident that in that time and place folk of their social strata would NOT have been King supporters.

It's easy to take the day off work and celebrate with extra foam on the latte but to pretend this nation embraces this man now much less BEFORE IT SHOT HIM is rage inducing.

My stomach has been somewhere between spill and spin all day - and I have not yet even flipped to NPR.

Actually I don't listen anymore - ever since they refused to play Mumia a few years back due to pressure I gave up.

Yes - Air America makes me angrier then just listening to Michael Savage.

Can you stream at work?

it is certainly a phenomenon of white radicals to extol the virtures of the panthers' militancy but to reduce them solely to that militancy would be just irresponsible.

huey newton was an egomaniacal drug addict but he was also an incredibly intelligent individual with important ideas. the most important thing the panthers did was autonomous social organizing that helped feed children, get medical aid to those who couldn't otherwise afford it, and help clothe their community.
