Okay - everyone and their hunting buddy now knows Cheney shot some dude while hunting for farm raised wild game the other day. . .old news now.

Hi there!

I just wanted to say that your posts and comments in a certain feminist community always give me something to think about.

I also think it is awesome how you speak up about Andrea Dworkin and animal rights. The lack of ecofeminist posts in that community is really depressing, given how many members are all about the "PETA IS CRAZY" and "I eat meat because I'm pro-choice!" comments. Have you read 'The Sexual Politics of Meat' by Carol Adams?

I found out about Ward Churchill because of your journal, and I saw him speak at my school a few months ago. And he was amazing.

So thank you.

Yeah the communities I usually just peek my head into - glad someone gets something positive out of it.

I did mean to post anon, but now I feel silly about it.

There is a fellow (white and hetero, too!) in a Facebook group I read, who says he knows some 'laid back' feminists. And then goes on to describe 'extremists' as those that asked for an offensive picture to be removed from the site. So I guess those laid back feminists are not feminists at all, but lumps of dirt?

Change must seem so awful to him and others that share his views..

I try to outweigh them by the cool folk who are also click clackin.

Dear friends of xnaivetex,

As most of you know by now, Cristi's house was broken into by her drunken brother-in-law and his shitty friends. I was wondering whether any of you would like to help me take up a collection for her--to help her get back on her feet and to help restore a little of her faith in humanity. Could you please visit my journal entry at http://tjekanefir.livejournal.com/208358.html and let me know if you can help out and/or if you have any good suggestions for how to go about this? She does not yet know that I'm trying to do this, so please let's keep it quiet till we've decided what if anything we can do to help her.

If anyone wants to pass this invitation along to any of her non-LJ friends (or LJ friends that have friends-only journals I couldn't comment in,) please feel free. I'm just tired of feeling helpless about it and want to do something proactive on her behalf. Any and all suggestions are welcome (especially, if one of you has a PayPal account we could use to collect contributions?)
