I got my prescription sunglasses from http://www.zennioptical.com -- you don't get to try 'em on. But they're cheap. And I've been very pleased with them.
So... I'd say... if you can swing it, if you really like the frames, go for it. You'll have them for a couple of years for sure. If you divide the cost by the number of days you'll be wearing them, it's almost negligible!

My insurance will cover $150 of frames, but unfortunately they won't pay the extra money for ultra-thin lenses, so I'm looking at about $500 out-of-pocket. Whew! But I am seriously desperate, so I think I'll go for it. I figure I'll keep my current glasses for outdoorsy things, since I can be pretty tough on them. But it would be nice to have a fancy pair to wear to work & just around.
