Yeah, I've played with that too..it's nice to sort out the fuzz and get to the good stuff!

I find that the older I get, the less patient I am with the radio. And, yet, I do want to discover new music. Pandora is a great solution, where you can skip a song if you don't like it and try the next one. It's got a lot of indies, so the selection is great!
