I saw Funny People on Monday. I enjoyed it. I think Adam Sandler does a pretty good job in a semi serious role. It did give me a fun idea; I think it would be awesome to write a routine as if you were living in 1988 and perform it without comment at an open mic night. Hilarity ensues. Well, tomorrow is the last chemo and that is pretty exciting. I still have other stuff going on related to the surgery that I hope clears up, so it isn't really as exciting as it could be. But, much better than being the first chemo! It will take me a couple of weeks to recover, as it always does, and then I can get to working on rehabbing myself ( Read more... )

Chemo has been a bit harder than I expected. I mean, I knew things wouldn't be perfect, but man. Atleast with the radiation it was all physical. But, this nerves stuff caused by the chemo meds are beyond annoying. My jaw hurts while eating, I can't touch, drink or eat anything cold (NO ICE WATER! Hell. NO ICE CREAM. Hell. NO SODA WITH ICE!) These chemo weeks aren't super fun. I am tired. I have odd pains, and I can't drink anything cold. Which means I am thirsty because warm water isn't tasty like ice water! It has been a month since the surgery; I am now officially allowed to pick up heavy objects, drive a car and eat pizza. I haven't been especially hungry for pizza or eager to start training for the spot on the Olympic weigh lifting team. My time at the hospital was spent successfully. The surgeons were able to perform the operation with no problems. Everyone (with the glaring exception of cafeteria lady who surely escaped a low budget horror film. The report from Johns Hopkins wasn't encouraging. In addition to high grade dysplasia some of my cells are actually cancerous. Luckily, the cells affected are still localized and have not spread. I had a CT Scan on Friday that showed that I am 50 percent clean. Tomorrow I will be undergoing an MRI exam that will show another 49 percent. The surgery ( Read more... )
