“See you later at football practice, man?” Dave heard as he zoned back into the conversation he had with Azimio.
“Yeah” He answered, pounding his fist with his team mate. He grabbed a book from his locker when he seen Azimio stroll around the corner.
Walking around the hall, Dave looked for people he could torment and bother for the time being. His class wouldn’t start for a couple minutes and the only person that had an interest in talking too him, already left.
His stroll down the hallway was stopped short when something caught his ear. Looking at the door, it was to the Glee Club.
He swore to himself that he would never be caught dead in there, but he really didn’t have to ‘go in’ - the door was cracked open.
Raising an eyebrow, he leant his head forward, peaking into the room. His eyes met with a young man like himself. He was small though, had blonde-brunette hair, pasty skin and black rimmed glasses that seemed to add to his features.
He was sitting on a chair with a guitar, singing as he strummed along. He recognized the song; Clarity by John Mayer. While he mentally kicked himself for knowing the song, he hadn’t noticed the strumming and singing had stopped and the door had opened, until he felt something bump into his shoulder.
“Hey, watch where you’re going…” Dave started, but trailed off when he got a look at who it was. The boy from before.
“Oh, im sorry” The boy blinked, looking up at the taller man.
“It’s uh, fine” Dave said, looking behind him. He noticed the hall was clearing.
“My names Cameron, Cameron Mitchell.” The smaller man held out his hand, clutching onto his book and schedule with his other.
Staring at his hand for a couple seconds, letting the new guy get a little nervous. Finally accepting it “Dave Karofsky” he gave a half smile, letting go of the firm grip he had on Cameron’s hand.
“Your voice, I heard it. It’s .. very good” Dave mumbled, nodding.
“Thank You. I’m thinking about joining the Glee Club” Cameron smiled with excitement about his future plans.
Dave mentally kicked himself for the 2nd time today. What was he doing? He was supposed to make fun of people like this… n-not talking and smiling with them. Cameron’s the dork that got thrown into dumpsters and Dave is jock that did those acts, that’s how it’s supposed to be, especially with a Glee nerd. The natural clique order around the school.
Dave got lost in thought that when he snapped out of it he realized Cameron was talking, giving him perfect opportunity to stare into his dazzling eyes as they danced with joy.
“… So what do you have?” Dave heard, finally snapping out of his trance.
Leaning in Dave took a look at Cameron’s schedule. Dave’s Varsity Jacket clad arm accidentally rubbing up against Cameron’s bare one as he was dressed in a black and white checkered short sleeve button up.
“Quite a few actually” Dave though, pointing out to which ones on the paper. “One right after the class I have to get going to, Calculus”.
“Awesome. I guess we should get going, I don’t want either you or I to be late for class” Cameron smiled as he heard the bell go off.
“Oh, right” Dave nodded, secretly not wanting to stop the conversation. He’s pushed so many people away, bullying people as a way to make it easier for him to deal with things. Being a jock got him friends, but they only hung out with him cause of that. His only true friend was Azimio, but even he questioned it. Cameron seemed to be the only person not scared when talking to him. Either he hadn’t heard of the Karofsky reputation, or he didn’t care.
“See you later?” Cameron asked, even though they were going to be in multiple classes together.
Dave just nodded his head as he watched a rushing Cameron retreat down the hallway as he almost smacked into a another student, laughing a bit as he turned to go to his own class “I’m planning on it”.
