Choking on a sob, the woman leaned her head against the wall; bringing in a deep, shaky breath - one of the few she had left.
Carefully re-clutching the spine of the notebook, she went back to the task at hand. Jotting down the things that flowed through her mind at lightning speed, the yellow pencil in her hand doing it's best to keep up with the seemingly unstoppable flow.
One by one, she ripped out the pieces of paper, carefully; not the accidentally rip it in half, leaving wasted words to not be read.
Folding the pieces of paper - some with only 1 sheet, others with a few more - she placed them into the awaiting envelopes that sat next to her on the cool tile of bathroom floor. Not bothering to seal any of them, she only did the simple task of tucking the tip of the flap inside of the envelope, proceeding with writing names onto each as her hands shook with every pencil mark she made.
Grabbing the edge of the counter, she shakily lifted herself, her knees feeling as if they would give any moment.
Clutching the letters in her hand, she placed a kiss to each one as she laid them out, the names of each respective owner showing in a soft, somewhat messy, curly writing.
With a sigh, she grabbed 2 small, cold objects off the counter and carefully stepped into the awaiting empty bathtub, a sarcastic chuckle escaping her lips at the irony of being careful, but her upcoming actions more than reckless.
Setting one of the objects on the side of the tub, she grasped onto the small, slim object in her other hand. Opening her hand, she inspected the object currently laying in her palm; a reflection of the bathroom light teasing her eyes.
It was a vial; a lone, slim, black vial. Inside it contained what seemed to be a dark red - almost black - substance; a substance beyond her knowledge. She just believed it to believe it as an unknown liquid drug.
Rolling it around in her palm, she leaned her head back against the wall. Her decision surely final, but thoughts still flooded her head; never-ending.
One month ago - the day she received the vial. "When you want to truly be happy, take this" - were the uttered words spoken to her by the dark haired man that gave her said object. A painful, yet caring glimmer in his eyes as he spoke.
A shock spreading through her, as the man she knew was never as caring as that moment; that brief moment. He was usually the careless type; always there to crack a joke at a tense time. When he took things seriously, he was dead serious, front and center. But that were the only 2 emotions he had ever shown in-front of the world; care-free and angry.
Flashbacks coming to her, making hot tears flood her eyes once more. Making a fast swipe with the back of her hand, she wiped the freshly fallen tears that clouded her vision.
Slowly, she popped the top of the vial off, letting it fall randomly into the tub she was currently in. With a small sniff of the contents inside, she made no more second thoughts and downed the liquid; letting it slide past her tongue - It was metallic, yet sweet. Something indescribable, really.
Tossing the vial to her feet, she carefully grabbed the awaiting lone object on the side of the tub. Leaning her head back against the wall, she stared at the ceiling, waiting to see what effects would happen; if any at all.
Her eyes wandered back down after a while, her left hand coming up face level into her vision. She silently studied her own wrist; how soft it was, and smooth. Her veins popping out and visible clearly against her fair skin.
With determination shining in her eyes, she lifted her right hand and swiftly brought the object across the smooth surface. The feeling making her close her eyes for a moment as she left out a soft cry.
Re-opening them, she watched as a crimson waterfall appeared to trickle down her arm, a thin but deep line being the source of such violent beauty; the stained blade she clutched in her right hand being the instigator.
With no wasted time, she firmly put the blade into her left hand. With as much determination - if not more - she swung her sharp, metal fate deep into the right wrist, making a point to dig it harder into the soft flesh.
Throwing that too to her feet, she laid her head back for the final time, accepting her fate; a fate she planned for a while. In no time, the darkness swept over her, lulling her into the unknown.
A sharp breath echoed through the sizable room.
"You're up" a male voice said from the corner of the room, only to get a soft groan in response.
Warmth. Soft. Fluffy. Were the words entering the persons mind as they stirred to. The last thing they remembered was a cold, hard bathtub and a pleasurable pain coursing through them; through her.
She mumbled unintelligent things through her seemingly numb lips, she dare hasn't opened her eyes; for they were too heavy still and she feared what she would witness once she opened them.
"Where am I?" She asked, sure she passed through somewhere; whether it was heaven or hell, she was afraid to know.
"Alive. Well, metaphorically speaking..." The male voice answered, trailing off.
"Damon" She softly gasped, registering the voice.
"Yes..." She felt what she was laying on dip, and a hand engulfing a one of hers. "Arie?"
"I'm not alive" She mumbled back.
"Arie, open your eyes" She heard, his voice soft.
"No. I'm not. I can't be" She silently sobbed. She wanted all the hurt and pain to be gone; over and done with. She didn't want to be saved; to face the same fake people that will now have 'sympathy' towards the suicidal girl.
"Please, look at me" He spoke again, demand lacing each word.
With slight hesitation, she slid her lids open. Greeted with the worried face of a one Damon Salvatore.
"Why? Why am I here?" She spoke, her voice slowly coming back to her.
"I saved you" He stated, stroking her hand that was in his grasp.
"You shouldn't have" She responded with a slight shake of her head.
"But... that was the plan all along" He spoke, a glimmer in his eyes as he met hers.
He continued when he only received an off look from Arie.
"That vial..." he started, running his free hand through his hair. Casting his gaze to the floor, not wanting to see her surely disgusted reaction for what he was about to explain.
"The day I gave it to you, was the day the plan happened. I watched you since the first day we met years ago, studied your daily routine, your mood pattern, your etiquette - stalker-esque, I know - but your presence drawn me to do such".
"But that day - a month ago - was the day I set my plan to save you into motion. I knew you were thinking of doing something drastic, life threatening. You hid your emotions well in-front of Stefan, Elena, Bonnie, Jeremy, all of them. You really had them fooled. But not me"
"But, straight to it, what was in that vial. That was my blood" He paused, waiting to hear a reaction for the woman. None came, so he went on further. "My blood is what saved you".
He glared at the floor as there was a long silence between the two. The only sound being the clock ticking away on the wall a few feet from them. A lullaby of sorts as it wasted away time.
"Thank You" a whisper broke the silence.
Arie knew the real stories about the paranormal of Mystic Falls; The Salvatore Brothers, Bonnie, Tyler, Klause, Katherine, etcetera. She just never thought it would land on her, believing in the 'Ignorance is Bliss' theory.
"You're Welcome" Damon responded after a moment, shifting in his spot a bit.
"So does that mean...?" It was Arie's turn to awkwardly stare at the floor. She knew how a turning went, she just never wanted to believe it.
"Yes" He nodded, squeezing her hand for support. "Now get some rest, you're still weak from so much blood loss. It's going to be a repulsive thought, but when you wake up you're going to have drink from a transfusion bag in order to get your health back up".
With a groan and a nod, Arie slipped her eyes shut again, sleep overcoming her as Damon pulled the blankets back over her.
"Damon!" a voice roared through the house, calling for the older vampire.
"Yes?" a cocky voice called from the couch. a shot of Jack Daniels slipping past their lips.
"Where is Kristen?" Stefan crossed his arms as Elena finally caught up to his side.
"Kristen, who?" Damon raised an eyebrow.
"Kristen Hartung, the new girl at school" Elena piped up.
"Never heard of her" Damon replied blankly, taking another sip of the Jack from his glass.
"Damon..." Stefan warned, taking a step forward.
"Honestly" Damon defended, holding up a hand. "Why do you guys ask?"
"She went missing" Elena spoke again.
"Why do you guys always assume me?" He asked with a raised brow.
"Because it's always you" Stefan rolled his eyes.
"Wait... She went missing today?" the question was answered with a affirmative nod.
After what seemed like an eternity of silence, an "Oh shit" rang through the room as Damon raced out of the chair and upstairs at an un-human speed; Stefan and Elena following him.
The bedroom door slammed open, almost slamming back into them at the sheer force it slammed into the wall.
What they seen before them would of been horrifying to anyone else, but only slightly shocking to the group currently in the doorway on Damon's bedroom.
Sheets and Blankets that were once fresh, soiled with drying blood. 2 women currently occupying the room. One half-passed out, the other with her wrist currently occupied by the women assumed as Kristen.
As if someone shot electricity through her - lighting a fire under her ass - Kristen sprung up into a sitting position. Worry etching her face, but soon relaxed as she realized where she was. She made a deal with the new vampire; blood, for a turn. It was a risky deal, but she put a cent of trust into the woman, oddly.
Arie slipped out of the room, an insatiable hunger taking over her. She ran as far as she could till she found a scent - one that would lead her into the woods. She finally slowed down as she neared the scent more, the aroma becoming stronger each step.
Peeking from behind a tree, she seen a group of people, some with booze in hand, others with joints in theirs. Music coming from a junker car that was parked near-by. The music pounding into Arie's head as she hasn't gotten used to the new found sensitive hearing.
Finding her perfect opportunity, she snuck behind a row of bushes and watched as one of the women broke off from the group. Going to the bathroom in a near-by bush was probably the intended task, but it never got fulfilled as Arie swooshed by the woman, grabbing her and slamming her into a tree 100 feet away, knocking the woman unconscious.
Arie taken the women silently back to the Salvatore Boarding House, slipping back into the bedroom without detection from Damon.
It was about a half hour later that the woman came to, her half attempted scream muffled. Arie explained her situation to the also young woman. She was hungry, but didn't want to kill anyone. So they made the deal. Arie gets to fill her thirst, if Kristen gets to get changed. Risky, but a plan none-the-less that would satisfy both their needs, as Kristen moved to Mystic Falls for the attraction of the supernatural rumors that went around.
Sitting up, Kristen put her chin in her hand and twisted each way, giving a series of sickening cracks either way she went. Turning, she eyed up Damon and Stefan with a smirk, skipping over Elena, as she was no real interest to Kristen.
"So, you must be the Salvatore Brothers".
