Max knew bringing money with him to the camp would be useful somehow. He clutched onto the objects in his hands as he watched the car pull away from the camp and down the dirt road.
Max plopped down as he gently set the objects next to him on the bed, reaching for his cellphone. 'Wanna meet up?' he sent out a text. His foot wagging in his wait, a nervous habit of his.
A slight jump emanated from him as the text tone from his cell phone vibrated into the air. 'Sure, the woods?' he read from the LED screen. 'Of course :)'. Grabbing the objects from the bed, Max set out to meet Ezra. He hoped this was a good idea.
A smile graced his face at the site of Ezra weaving around the trees, eventually meeting each others gazes.
"Hey" Max bit his lip, rocking back forth on his heels.
"Hey yourself, what'cha got there?" Ezra replied, curious about the basket in Max's right hand and as to why his left arm was behind his back.
A bouquet of White Roses were extended out in front of Ezra's face, "for you" Max grinning sheepishly.
"Oh... they're beautiful" Ezra accepted the flowers graciously, inhaling their alluring scent, "Thank You" he blushed.
"You're welcome" giving a peck to Ezra's cheek, but his face was guided by Ezra's hands to his lips. Giving into the feeling, Max wrapped his arms around Ezra's waist and deepened the kiss, but eventually pulled back.
"I got you 10 White Roses because 10 roses mean 'you're perfect' and White Roses stand for purity, innocence, heaven. Everything you are. They also mean "I am worthy of you", which I hope I am" Max explained, not caring how love sick he sounded at the moment. If he was in school still he would take all the teasing he would get for how he was acting.
A blush crept up Ezra's neck and flushed his cheeks at Max's words; Love vibrated through his core for the other boy.
"Oh, I got something else for you too" Max made the basket in his hand known as he carefully sat down on the ground, patting the spot in front of him for Ezra.
Handing the basket over to Ezra, Max felt bad that he didn't do more for him, but there was only so much you could do at a camp without everyone becoming nosy.
Inside the basket was a couple king size bars of chocolate, a covered bowl of chocolate covered strawberries, a small teddy bear, and a small red box.
Max watched intently as Ezra lifted out the small box with interest. Ezra bit his lip as the object inside was revealed.
Fingering the object, Ezra lifted it out of the box and with nimble fingers un-clasped and re-clasped the necklace around his neck. It was a silver heart shaped dog tag on a ball chain with 'E.M. & M.O.' inscribed on it.
"You can wear it under your shirt. I made sure it was long enough to".
Almost as if reading his mind and clearing his worries, Ezra reached over and pecked Max's lips, "I love it".
Under the mix of shade and light that the swishing and swaying branches created from the light breeze in the air, Max and Ezra enjoyed the strawberries as they fed them to each-other and enjoyed each-others company. The forest has become a comforting place for them both, but only when with each-other.
Ezra laid on Max's chest and listened to the nature and his steady heartbeat. Lifting his head so he was in eye level with Max, he rested his chin on Max's shoulder, 'Be mine?"
"Oh I made that decision long ago, I was yours the first day I met you" Max chuckled.
"I love you" Ezra sighed in delight with a giggle.
"I love you, too. Happy Valentines day, Ezra".
