[1. Phone: after school]

It's so boring studying here all by myself. It would be so much more fun if someone would join me. Especially if that person is interesting or cute. Oh, my name's Hiling and I'm in the library. I'll be waiting~

[2. Action: library][Hiling can be found with a table to herself, textbooks stacked nearby. She flips ( Read more... )

hiling is a good girl, what ulterior motives?, :phone, :action

[Occasionally, the Doctor comes into the library to do some research on the town. Perhaps mistakenly, he takes one of the textbooks on Hiling's table thinking that it's a library book she's finished with. He begins skimming through as he walks away.]

Hey that's mine!

[She puts down her book to give him an indignant stare. Not that she particularly wants or cares about the book, but she is particular about her things.]

Oh. Is it?

[The Doctor returns and sets the book again on Hiling's table.]

I thought you didn't want it after tossing them like that.

I'm studying for school. I'll be needing that.

[Isn't that how people study? She's never had to before. And she's bored already.]

Really? Well, aren't you a studious girl.

[She clearly didn't seem all that interested in studying considering how she's just skimming through the texts. Ah, but he knows that look. The Doctor, after all, is an academic.]

It looks like you're bored.

I can already tell this is going to be a pain. It's all so outdated.

[She glances at one of her textbooks with disdain. It makes sense for the time period they appear to be living in, but she still doesn't like it.]

I've taken enough of a glimpse to know that you won't learn much from this tripe. Well, then. Let me ask you this:

Just how much do grades really matter here?

I don't know, probably not much. I thought I'd try it since I've never been to school before.

My dear, dear girl... What are schools but institutions that seek to indoctrinate students, hoping to retain order and for them to mature into only a certain type of an adult? You learn nothing in these schools. The only education you could ever want...

[The Doctor raises an arm at the pile of books. Electricity crackles around his arm and he fires a bolt of black electricity at them. They fly into the air, burnt.]

Is one from experience.

[She tilts her head as she listens. Going from her old life to living like a normal high school student isn't very fulfilling for her. She gets the feeling she wouldn't be much better off as an adult in this place. His display of power is impressive and gives her a scare. She's never seen anything like it.]

What's the alternative?

Conquest. We'll take the town with our own two hands and turn the tables on its administrators and all those who oppose us.

What else?

Oh. [He's certainly blunt about it. She's not sure if he's delusional or if he actually has the means to do such a thing. Very interesting.]

That's quite ambitious.

Actually, I have some experience with that sort of thing. Perhaps I could be of help.
