Loyalty and Integrity

Apr 09, 2006 07:06

Let me preface this entry by saying there are 2 values I hold in very high esteem- Loyalty and integrity. I believe once you establish yourself with a group or a purpose you stick with them through thick and thin. You treat these people like you would wanted to be treated and never put yourself above anyone else.

Tonight should have been a good night; It had all the makings of one. While I had to stay at work a little later than I expected, it wasn't tough work. However it was exceptionally funny to see the disgruntled faces on some of the parents' faces when their children's voices (Children's choir event) were drowned out by the Eastern Native American Convention's dance and singing (lots of screaming. Very loud screaming) 4 floors below.

As per usual, I hopped right on FF when I got home. I had missed today's Kirin fights, but I was quickly updated on the results. W. Legs dropped all 3 times, but no cloth or Osode. Enno was one of the winners of the Legs, and while she is happy she got them, she is upset that she no longer matches. Maybe RDM AF2 Legs will drop in Jeuno on Wednesday and all will be right with the world. While muling some of my items I noticed a Lv.9 WHM asking questions about what DEX and AGI do, so I enlightened him. We began a dialogue and I told him that if he had any other questions he could /tell my main, which of course led to me explaining that I was in fact a 75 BLM/WHM, not a 1 RDM named Ginadiggers. We talked for another half hour or so and I feel he learned a lot. Before he took off on his adventures for the day he asked me where he could get some Battle Gloves, which would run him 20K in the AH. I told him they were in the Chest in King Ranperre's Tomb and even offered to snag a pair for him since I was feeling particularly magnanimous today.

Shortly thereafter, Kenshin requested help obtaining his Elvaan RSE Sachet (Str +2) from The Maze of Shakrami. Since you need to be Elvaan to pop the NM I was glad to help. Magicker, who is Hume, also offered to tag along even though he could not pop the NM. This is what led to some exciting events later.

Between the ??? spawns I ran around popping chests, trying to fill Magicker's inventory with Heat Rods while he napped between pops. During one of my chest hunts, someone noticed that I opened one and sent me a "Congratulations!" I saw he was Elvaan and immediately realized he thought I was trying for my RSE. We struck up a conversation and I found out that he was here for RSE but could not get any keys. As fun as it was trying to fill Magicker's inventory with worthless items, I figured this guy could use the chests more. So during my next break I showed him a room filled to the brim with key-dropping mobs and he got one within 3 kills. I then took him through the maze and found his Treasure Chest which he popped for his RSE. With many thanks, he warped back to Jeuno. He came back later but couldn't get a another key before he was called away to a party, even though I had found another chest for him.

Now as for the exciting part of the NM hunt. The deal with this thing is every 30 minutes, a ??? pops in 1 of 3 specific locations, and you must be the correct race to spawn the NM from this ???. So Kenshin and I had our spots covered fine, but since Magicker was Hume he could not pop the NM if the ??? appeared by him. This was a big problem because we had competition, and if an Elvaan was at Magicker's location there was nothing we could do to get it. Unfortunately there WAS an Elvaan covering Magicker's position, a DRG/THF. We had an advantage because we were able to keep the NM ToD to ourselves so our competion wouldn't know exactly when to expect a spawn. It had not appeared at Magicker's location yet that night so we feared it was due, and with the DRG guarding it we had no hope of getting to it in time. Magicker, however, pulled one of the funniest and coolest moves I have seen in this game in... well maybe forever. 1:00 before the ??? was due to pop, Magicker hit Flee and bolted to the north (Remember, DRG has no clue as to ToD yet). The DRG, thinking Magicker was racing to the NM, followed with his own Flee. After a few seconds Magicker doubled back around a side tunnel and found the ??? at his spot. He shouted its location and I came running as fast as I could. I was also subbing THF but it does not have Flee yet, so I was at an extreme disadvantage. The entire time I was waiting for the DRG to come bolting around the corner, realizing he had been duped. About 3/4 of the way there Magicker was still shouting for me to run, when I looked over my shoulder and noticed the DRG was right on top of me. His flee had worn off and I was maybe 1 step ahead of him. His blue dot was in the dead center of my radar. Realizing that the slightest mistake would cost one of us the NM, we both bolted at full sprint towards the ??? which Magicker was standing by, almost as if to wave the checkered flag. Inches away from the ??? we both ran into mobs and slowed us down. I'm positive his heart was racing as fast as mine was. I broke through the mobs and dove on the ??? not a quarter of a second before the DRG also came in range. The NM popped..... claimed to us! Sadly the sachet did not drop, but I'd like to thank Magicker and the DRG for giving me one of the biggest rushes I've had in this game in a very long time. There is nothing like running to a goal, literally neck to neck with your opponent, as the goal appears in the distance and gets closer and closer every second, and with your teammates screaming for you from the finish line.

If you've read this far, you're probably wondering why I'm upset, and why I just wasted 10 minutes of your time making you read all that. It's amazing how one little thing can completely blindside you and ruin what was an awesome night.

Well after the NM hunt we all just turned in for the night. I usually check our LS forums before I go to bed just out of habit. I noticed an odd title for a thread in one of the forums and when I opened it I was taken aback by the sight of my name in the middle of big complaint. This thread has since been nuked, so for anyone confused that's why you haven't seen anything.  I'm the primary organizer for our LS Limbus runs, and because of that I hold all the chips we get when we clear the zone so we can fight Ultima and Omega. Well on our last Apollyon run we obtained a Metal Chip (Rare/EX) from the final crate, which is used in accessing Apollyon CS and Temenos Central: Basement, bonus stages of sorts. These areas are extremely hard, but can be very lucrative in terms of ancient beastcoins if you bring a group that knows what they're doing.

The complaint was that I did not let anyone else lot on the Metal Chip when it dropped. This person accused me of being greedy and defrauding the LS by not letting everyone there lot on this. Yep, that's right. Someone came out and basically publicly insulted the 2 values I hold closest in one nice little package. I put 120% of myself into this LS, I help people at every turn, if I can get more than 10 minutes of "me" time a day I'm happier than a dog in a bacon factory. And now someone who I barely see once or twice a week has the fucking balls to try and use their seniority to say, "Hey asshole, stop being so greedy!" FUCK YOU. I have to lot god seals all the time at sky raids and I don't hear any complaining about that. Is it because god seals aren't EX? Well guess what, I can sell god seals if I wanted to. This Metal Chip, this holy of holies, this omnipotent item that gives you all the powers of all the relics combined in one magic fart, is RARE/EX. I can't give this away if I wanted to! Now see, most people when faced with this info would say "Oh, yea, that makes sense." but nooooo. Apparently, instead of using the Metal Chip to access the new zones with the LS that I've dedicated myself to over the past year, I'm going to whore myself out on the streets of Jeuno and get random people to come partake in all its metallic glory. Muahahaha, all my fake kindness and fake gratitude has finally paid off- Zenith Mitts and Novio Earring be damned, I have THE METAL CHIP! What would this person have done with it anyways if he were allowed to lot and won? Maybe use it to access one of the new zones, taking some LS members with him? What a fucking novel idea! I wish I had thought of that! Or maybe he just wanted to touch it, to say that for at least a short while he was able to hold in his hands... a metal chip.
Does that make ANY fucking sense at all?
